Same. Working on boundaries and seeing some improvement. Definitely not where I want to be, but much better than where I used to be.
I’m back on my bullshit.

That’s such great news! I can’t imagine how much better you guys feel with such a drastic improvement in mobility.
I’m jealous! That sounds lovely. There’s a train in my state I’ve been meaning to ride. Maybe I’ll do so soon. Enjoy your trip!
Congrats! Sounds like you have some determination and a stable financial situation.
I’m so happy for everyone involved! 🥳
George Bush, especially with that facial expression, to represent disaster due to his handling of the Katrina recovery. The other joke is the title, which I think would be an understatement. The meme covers a series of emotional swings: shocked/disappointment, charmed, then uneasy acceptance. To me, it seems like those emotional swings would be more than just a little confusing.
she’s laughing at your generalization of “those people” as that can sometimes be seen as condescending or derogatory.
Yeah, that’s what I’m realizing from the responses to this question. Thanks for pointing that out. Btw, it wasn’t my sister laughing. It was my supervisor at work that was laughing when I referred to my sister and her group as those people. Oopsies!
All I can say is there’s typically an implicit negative connotation when using the form “those people” regardless of intent. Usually it’s used that way when stereotyping or otherwise making a blanket statement about a group, so even benign uses of the phrase tend to sound hostile.
ohhhHHHHHhhhhh! That’s what was happening. Me and my ghetto butt had picked that term up from childhood and never realized it was considered hostile. Thanks for letting me know.

But the data clearly shows that I function better when I’m collecting data. I even compared them to a dummy variable as a control.
Supposedly it’s being “reclaimed” by the alt-right on Twitter.
omg I would love to see some examples! is it like when they claimed that, “We are all domestic terrorists”? I would pee my g-string if I saw that they seriously said, “We are all re******” 😆
One day redneck and hillbilly will be considered slurs too. Mark my words.
They already are
What’s up with July 29, 2024?
Why is this getting downvotes?
Contramuffin. (2024). Describing my job: I do science. Lemmy World, 78(9), 69-420.
Found it! It’s almost 3 hrs long, so you know what that means: a glass of wine, your favorite easy chair, and of course, this YouTube video streaming on your home system. So, go on, and indulge yourself. That’s right, kick off your shoes, put your feet up, lean back and just enjoy the rational documentary. After all, knowledge soothes even the savage lemming.
Remembering from my social psychology classes in undergrad, I believe number is 150. But yes, that’s a good point. It’s one of the reasons people in major urban areas like NYC are capable of moving on with their lives when terrible things happen to those around them. We biologically can’t care about people once we reach our 150 limit. Btw, I think the authors of that theory argued that that number is one of the major differences between us and other social species.
