Edit: Wait, hang on. I just realized I interacted with this account a few days ago. They told me Obama wasn’t conservative because he didn’t strip gay people of their rights; I pointed out that Obama didn’t support gay marriage until his second term, and that he didn’t actually do anything to legalize gay marriage, a conservative leaning Supreme Court did. They then called me privileged and said they couldn’t address my idiocy (or something along those lines).
Anyway, I think I know what happened with this guy and the, “tankie,” mods.
I mean yeah, calling Obama a conservative is worthy of a mental health evaluation at least. If you truly believe that. Which I doubt.
“Democrats and Republicans are equally bad” is at least a tankie-adjacent argument.

Lemmy world is pretty good in my experience. They let everyone have a voice unless it is hate speech

Lemmy is the best reddit alternative, but it isn’t without its flaws.
The biggest flaw is that it is full of people, and a lot of people have terrible opinions.
The flood of Putin worshipers trying to sell the idea that everybody except for Russia are white supremacists who have to be killed by Russia is pretty obnoxious.
They don’t even write to the topics they are responding on, they just leave 5 page copy paste essays on the CIA, a group that isn’t elected or representative of the American people in any way.
I tangled with them in one of their subs and they scrubbed all my questions about what part of executing Navalny secretly in prison was justice.
They say he said bad words so secret state killing was justified but also there is no proof it was a secret killing as Russia is perfect.
It’s exhausting to have to share space with these people.
Wonder how they excuse Putin arresting people for attending the funeral. Wait I can already predict that: It’s all NATO propaganda that is all a lie.

Is this the lemmy.ml politics community? I’ve stopped short at blocking that server, but I don’t sub to communities there any more. Most of those communities already have alts on other servers.

Defederating from .ml for their moderation and idolizing of totalitarian regimes would be better for the rest of lemmy… The people that run that instance are no better than MAGAts.
Blocking instances through your settings will only block posts and communities from these instances, not the users from these instances. You’ll still see their comments in other communities just fine.
