I think he’s just trying to further establish the (false) narrative that elections (past, present, and future) in this country are rigged to destablize law and order.
Look, even if Trump comes out and says, “I/Musk/Mussolini directly rigged the 2024 election and Harris is the rightful winner,” it’s not true. The guy lies for the sake of lying. It doesn’t make it any better if we like the narrative.
There is no evidence the 2024 election was rigged, just like there was no evidence in 2020. The cold, hard truth is that this asshole won. This idiot is whom we collectively voted for, and this idiot is what we got. Everything else he says is just bluster meant to grab headlines and distract from what he’s really doing: writing shitty executive orders, and likely soon to be followed by signing off on shittier laws.

Yes, I did. Trump admittedly has trouble forming cogent sentences, but you have to be be be engaging in wishful thinking to think he’s admitting to rigging the election.

to be fair (not that Trump really deserves the benefit of the doubt at this point), the clip doesnt really make it clear if he’s saying they rigged the 2024 election in his favor, or if he’s referring again to his conspiracy theories that the 2020 election was rigged against him (with the implication being that he was “supposed” to win the 2020 one and therefore would have been ineligible to run for the 2024-2028 term)
Yeah Trump is a massive douche - but this wasn’t him saying they rigged the election. You can tell he’s saying that in his first term he was sad he wouldn’t be president in 2026, but then accused his opponents of rigging the 2020 election, then saying he won in 2024 so he’ll be president in 2026.

You know it’s too bad, one was in 2026 and one was in 2028, and I said “I won’t be there I won’t be your President”, but then they rigged the election, and now we won so I’m going to be your President for the Olympics, and for the World Cup.
I watched the clip. Anyone who thinks he’s admitting to rigging the election is really reaching for something that just ain’t true. Apparently Lemmy likes its alternative facts fantasies too.
I transcribed the pertinent portion of the video, did I leave any relevant context out? Is this another of those he’s just saying things? Or perhaps “Democrats” are the they that did the rigging, letting Trump win? Whatever, I’m not going to give it any more thought. The text is there, as accurately as I could hear it. He said it, but if you think the man is incapable of admitting to anything just by saying it, then that’s fair.
I mean I hate Trump as much as anyone, and I do believe they willfully influenced the election using a number of illegal tactics.
That being said, he’s deliberately intending to make a joke here. Why? Because it normalizes the talk about Republican election interference so if anyone brings it up legitimately they can call it a joke.

Why would he be referring to them rigging the previous election when talking about events in 2026 and 2028?
Because if he’d won last time, he wouldn’t be able to be reelected for this term and as such wouldn’t be president for those things.

He said he wouldn’t be president in 2026 or 2028 in a conversation that occurred in his 2017-2021 term. His “then they rigged the election” comment is ambiguous, sure, but I think there’s a very reasonable argument that he’s saying “then the Democrats [or whoever] rigged the 2020 election so my second term is delayed 4 years”
There is PLENTY wrong with what he said there, but I really don’t think “I won by rigging the 2024 election” hits the mark this time. We lost. It fucking sucks, but for the love of God don’t let us stoop to the “stolen election” level without even a half-baked bit of evidence.
