If movies have taught me anything, it’s that this photo should be way more yellow.

Something like this to fix the metadata. I can’t remember which one I used, because there are a few out there.
gedaliyah@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How to download Google Takeout zips?English3·24 hours agoWell, you won’t like it. If you have very fast internet and a managed downloader, then you may be able to get all of the files. Google seems to throttle the speeds to make large takeouts almost impossible to download in the limited time allowed.
For this size of download, your best option is to get a subscription to a compatible service (Dropbox, etc.) To transfer the files, which will happen much more quickly than downloading yourself. Then download the files from that service at your leisure, and then cancel the service.
It’s pretty backwards, but it’s really the best option for large takeouts (over 5 gigs or so).
Cmon bro, just one more datum. That’s all we need. One little piece of data and that’s it. Cmon, please?
Like I said, you are nta in the situation. She put you in a horrible, life threatening situation. You acted out of fear and you did no harm. I just think it’s important to recognize the harm that could have been done. Consider it a lesson learned and an opportunity to move forward as a wiser, and perhaps stronger person. Sending you love.
NTA it sounds like she has a very poor sense of humor and doesn’t care who she hurts. Taking of a condom without your partner’s consent is extremely f-ed up. It’s a form of SA.
The only thing you did that rubs me the wrong way is asking about her citizenship as leverage. I understand you were acting out of fear due to a situation she created. Still though, it’s pretty scary to be Latin right now and even more so if you’re not a citizen. Still nta.

gedaliyah@lemmy.worldOPto Android@lemmy.world•FOSS replacement for accessing your phone on a PC (local-only) [Review]English0·3 days agoIt is definitely worth a shot for anyone looking for this type of app! It is really great.
I personally did not find KDE connect on Windows to be a good solution for me. I had a lot of connection instability, high battery usage, and lack of additional features.
KDE Connect does have some neat features like connecting via bluetooth, or using your phone as a remote mouse/keyboard. Those are not relevant to me, but could be just what someone is looking for.
gedaliyah@lemmy.worldOPto Android@lemmy.world•FOSS replacement for accessing your phone on a PC (local-only) [Review]English0·3 days agoHuh, odd. I’m using it on Firefox and no issues whatsoever. I don’t have chrome on any device.
Where does it say it’s dependent on Chrome?
I’m more expressing frustration that they have been approached multiple times about fixing the broken blocking by either renaming it muting (what it actually is), or creating an actual blocking feature. The excuses they provide are nonsensical.
Blocking protects users. Why would a federated platform not want to protect users?
Well, the devs are also the major community moderators and admins on the ml instance, which was the largest for a long time.
They still treat it like their private walled garden.
I may be overreaching with my assumption about their motivations, but then again I may not.
Blocking on Lemmy is really just muting, and it should be called that.
A real blocking feature would be nice (it exists on other fediverse platforms).
The devs have said that blocking wouldn’t do anything because everything is public, so the blocked user could still access the content they are blocked from but frankly that’s bs. If that were true, then there would be no point of banning either, right?
Devs want a monopoly on the power to block people they don’t like through the use of bans (and they claim to be all for the people).
I’ve found radicale more stable in my implementation, but both are very good and are pretty similar to use.
If you already have NextCloud/OwnCloud it would be a good to use the Calendar that is already built in, but it doesn’t make sense to install those for a calendar when there are better options available.

gedaliyah@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Mastodon is bringing quote posts to the fediverseEnglish0·6 days agoFWIW this was always an ideological choice, not a technical one. Masto users saw how quote-posts were used on other platforms to generate harassment, doxxing, dogpiling, etc. and chose not to include the feature. It’s hard to say whether it has had a cooling effect on those, but it seems like most people on Masto consider the benefits to outweigh the costs.
The !selfhosted@lemmy.world community has a lot of information on how to do this. I got into it a couple years ago because I felt weird about google listening in on my lightswitch activity (and to steal TV). Now I have a nice set of services running that have nothing to do with media (and actually help me do more things legally, and in some cases better than before).
There are also software communities like !grapheneos@lemmy.world to help with tools to manage software better. I am not a fanboy or anything but I like that GrapheneOS allows any app to be installed without network permissions.
