What Rhetoric? You mean like exposing the lies you and your Orange Turd are telling.

And while they’re arguing about who’s causing the most chaos, the rest of us are left wondering—how did it get this bad?

    Actually, that’s easy.

It got this bad because our system is so warped and corrupt that most politicians can no longer even pretend to run on policies and principles. If they get elected, they’re going to do one and only one thing - they’re going to serve the interests of the wealthy individuals and corporations that pay them the fattest bribes. They obviously can’t run on a promise to do that, but they can’t promise to do anything else because they’re not going to do anything else. So they run on hatred and fear - they run on things like “ELECT US BECAUSE THE IMMIGRANTS ARE EATING YOUR PETS!!”

It really is just that simple.

He’s playing “Every accusation is a confession” wrong. You’re supposed to make the accusation before you get caught.

“We need less decisive rhetoric” said the only party that is using decisive rhetoric.

Yeah, outrageous headline, obvious hypocrisy. But if you read to the end, the article is basically in support of it:

But let’s get real: both sides of the political aisle are pointing fingers and making things worse. Trump and Vance have their supporters, while the Democrats are no strangers to throwing some fiery jabs themselves.

One side is spreading lies. The other side is calling bullshit – but that’s rude, so BoTh SiDeS aRe aT fAuLt.

Who can forget the time Tim Walz’s loose remarks inspired a series of bukaki attacks at the Gainsville IKEA?

Also, what’s the alternative being promoted? If responding to, debunking, and rebuking the lies of Trump/Vance is “pointing fingers” and adding to negative discourse, then are they suggesting to just shut up about it and let the lies go unchecked? How does that serve anyone’s interest?

Feels like normative bias and the naive belief that Trump can’t cause any real damage and everything will be fine in the end.

They’re very different in frequency, too. The left only recently started with the fiery jabs whereas previously they were “above” making comments like that…it’s been the core of the republican playbook for awhile now

No, JD Vance made the “bomb threats are getting called on schools with Haitian kids” bed and now he has to lay in it.

Fascists get shot, that’s how the whole fascism thing works. The only question is if its gonna be another fascist that pulls the trigger or someone else. THIS is what real human nature looks like. Survival of the fittest is a myth. The only survival that matters is survival of the species which is why two people have attempted to kill Trump by putting their own lives on the line.

If the Republican Party and the Democratic Party want to propose and agree on some basic rules for discussion, that might be worth consideration.

It’s not gonna be perfect, because they can’t bind the public. But I can at least imagine there being a set of conventions for more civil public discourse that would improve the situation.

      They did, decades ago.

And the Democrats are still mostly abiding by those.

The Republicans, on the other hand…

To win their support in the social media space and to raise oodles of crypto cash for the campaign, yes.

It doesn’t look like a large contingent up front, but wait until Mema’s Instagram feed is nothing but AI images of Tim Walz and Kamala Harris face-swapped into that picture of RFK Jr eating a dog.
