It’s always a new account with 80% removed comments. Bro, the only thing I have to tell you is:

big thumb guy meme. First guy says "I do not like that thing". The group's leader gives a big thumbs up, and returns to their conversation.

(Thanks Lemmy friends, I’ve had a great year and a half with you folks!)

I provided nothing but quality respectful posts seeking answers to perhaps a sensitive question that impacts everyone in this society. Fight for your perceived purpose in this world, my perceived purpose is the preservation of truth.

So far in my short time here I have experienced both a community with positives but also a small minded approach to tough issues humanity faces, I have failed at finding a particular high standard of wit I desire from participants who will instead silence my controversial side so they are saved from realizing a truth that disrupts perhaps an incorrectly assumed moral right system of altruism without the sacrifice required to realize its benefits.

Ignorant humans will be the destruction of us all.

If you are on Lemmy trying to change the world and tackle human issues, I fear that you have latched on to the wrong conduit for that. That takes action and stuff.

Putting yourself on the high ground and wagging your finger just puts you in troll territory. And no, your posts are far from “quality” or the slightest bit “respectful”.

This is the most genuine response yet, thank you for the perspective. As someone who wants to change the world for the better, who wants to see humanity improve; sustaining a blow to my health that took half my life away doesn’t someone have to start somewhere?

I do recognize I am aggressive and a pompous asshole so that doesn’t help any cause besides my desire for everyone to see the beauty in absolute truth.

If you recognize something about yourself that you do not like, then you have a wonderful opportunity in front of you to change that thing, whatever it is!

Bonus: it is actually possible to do that, whereas trying to change the entire world is an enormously difficult task that is guaranteed to be quite frustrating.

But it will take effort, and time, and I wish you the absolute best of luck! Try to find some irl people that can be there to encourage you on the path.

Appreciate the support, understanding a condition of suffering is tough to appreciate if never experienced, some human conditions are horrific and unavoidable. As an example, at least partly due to the suffering endured by Viktor Frankl discovered a whole new approach to dealing with psychological healing.

My body is exhausted, my nerves unsettled, my muscles fail to respond like an animal rescued from a pool exhausted but lucky enough to be saved, just like being lost at sea, no landmarks to guide the way to safety. Now expand that to 20 years and you too would be panting, disoriented and tired when rescued from drowning.

The embodiment of an aching soul at least in my case may be realized by a quote from Elvis’ last perfomance of Unchained Melody. “And time goes by so slowly. And time can do so much”

I hope you didn’t look up the definition before making this comment. It makes perfect sense that the many points of an idea are realized by combining them into a singular unified understanding of the concept. I don’t think you are capable of abstracting a bunch of points into a singular representation of a greater idea.

Fight for your perceived purpose in this world, my perceived purpose is the preservation of truth.

The real truth is that being transgender is much more nuanced and complicated than “there’s men and women”. It’s a mental health issue, and the treatment for it happens to be to transition to match the gender your brain developed into. Because you have XX chromosomes doesn’t mean you can’t grow a man’s brain and vice-versa. Like come on those people don’t even recognize themselves as themselves in the mirror because of gender dysphoria. Who would wish that on anyone?

And that’s it, it’s that simple. All it costs other people is to not be assholes about it.

Everything people fear with their transphobia is that, phobia, fear that’s not based in reality or vastly disproportional to reality. Trans people aren’t there to take over and make cis people illegal, they’re not there to make your cis kids trans, they’re not there to trap you into having gay sex. They just want the same basic respect everyone else gets. Conservatives fear that because that’s how their conservative agendas work: gaslight people into “it’s not that bad” and then proceed to strip as many people’s rights as they can. There is no trans agenda, just like there’s never been a gay agenda. Nobody but cis straight usually white republicans are out there trying to convert everyone to their religion and version of reality.

It’s pretty clear cut too. If you give hormones to a cisgender person, they’ll start experiencing the same kind of mental distress as a trans person until you reverse it back. Thus, even if they wanted to, they couldn’t “groom” cis kids into becoming trans kids. It just doesn’t work that way. Some end up trying it and quickly realize they aren’t trans and that answers their question right there. That’s why we use puberty blockers for kids: if they change their mind they’re only like a year or two behind on puberty and that’s the end of it. Those are used by a wide variety of non-gender related growth issues too, for decades. Just try it yourself: try to imagine yourself as if you woke up the opposite gender. If it freaks you out, congratulations you’re cis. That’s what trans people feel until they transition.

Actually smart people care about much more important issues, because trans people aren’t and never have been an issue. The affordability crisis is much, much more important than oppressing a group of people that literally doesn’t cause any problem to anyone except bigots who just make up whatever nonsense reason to hate them.

Here’s some elucidation. The second infographic is a handy synopsis of the article. Only 10 or 15 steps (that’s we know of so far) that have to happen to get to either side of that chart, and what do we do with everyone in the middle? I’d rather shrug and use whatever label they prefer than insist on using the one my layman’s knowledge might suggest.

I have to assume that, when you say “the worst uneducated users from Reddit”, you mean people who post racism, homophobia, transphobia, Nazi apologism, etc., then make a post condemning Lemmy for justifiably telling them to get fucked. I suppose I do have to face the truth that this platform is just popular enough to siphon a few of you fuckos. It’s sad, but I hope we’ll eventually move past you.

    Video: why bad activists suck [15:10 | JUN 04 24 | Louis Rossmann] https://youtu.be/cir-gJDcC1o

    Summary

    1. The speaker discusses why algebra does not belong in activism, using the analogy of algebra being confined to a small room in high school.
    2. Activists unintentionally create algebraic equations in conversations, making listeners feel like they have to solve a problem by working backward.
    3. People resist change when they feel judged or told what to do, even for a good cause.
    4. Emotions and reactions play a significant role in activism related to climate change and COVID-19.
    5. Trying to change people’s minds by shaming them or making them feel like bad people is ineffective.
    6. Presenting genuine truth and benefits without shaming is more likely to lead to positive outcomes.
    7. Advocating for the right to repair electronics without shaming individuals for their choices.
    8. Emphasizing the importance of personal investment in the issue and avoiding making individuals feel like the bad guy.
    9. Sharing factual information and evidence to encourage people to care about the issue without resorting to shaming tactics.
    10. Making activism relatable and not making the person you’re talking to feel like the bad guy is crucial.
    11. People are conditioned to want to believe they are good humans and will believe lies if given the right incentive structure.
    12. Guiding someone to an idea by showing them the benefits or excitement of repair work is more effective than shaming them.
    13. Focusing on positive reinforcement rather than negative criticism to gain support for a cause.
    14. Not framing arguments in a way that makes people feel bad or obligated to agree is important.
    15. When people feel attacked or forced, they become irrational and resistant to reasoning.
    16. Presenting options as rights rather than obligations to foster a more positive and open response.
    17. Encouraging reflection on how to effectively communicate beliefs without alienating others and stressing the value of offering choices for repair rather than imposing mandates.

Checking this dude’s post and comment history (of the OP), it’s clear as a sunny day that he’s a troll. I just wish blocking would mean, actual block.

On Lemmy it just means “not displaying their posts and comments” but they can still see everything you post and comment.
