Here is opening page of meeting minutes of The Wannsee Conference that literally says “die Entlösung der Judenfrage”. The place where it happened still stands and is open to visitors.

It’s not some weird training issue, you can’t get there accidentally. Grok training data is very creatively filtered.

If this is accurate, it should get Muskiboi in deep doodoo in Germany where this kind of stuff is highly illegal.

Well it got one thing right, but missed important context. Aushwitz was primarily a labor camp and crematoria like they had there couldn’t handle it. Aushwitz had the extermination just like a side hustle, so they didn’t need it too big.

Now the likes of Birkenau, not far from Aushwitz - that was a death camp. And with much more massive crematoria to handle the death toll. And that crematoria was destroyed by Nazis when it was clear the Allies will reach them because it was clear evidence of genocide.

Aushwitz is an important site and while chilling and terrible, it doesn’t compare to what was happening elsewhere.

I am pretty confused by Musk saying this is an improvement. I have no doubts he might believe the Holocaust “wasn’t that bad” but would he admit that publicly?

I’ve been at Dachau concentration camp. There were wooden bunk beds multiple levels high where prisoners were crammed.

There’s no evidence of Zyklon B being used to kill people there like in Auschwitz, but people were starved and beaten to death there.

I visited the onsite crematorium too where the still living prisoners were forced to burn the bodies of the dead ones.

Even if it is one of the least bad camps, it still is so terrible. When I visited, people just looked at things in silence because it all is truly incomprehensible. Going there feels like being slapped on the back of your head, truly an eye opener.

Prob a hot take, and I don’t care for Musk at all.

But, this response is likely based on an engineered prompt which is telling the model to roleplay as a racist conspiracy theorist blogger writing a post about how the holocaust couldn’t have happened. The big models have all been trained on common crawl and available internet data and that includes the worst 4chan and Reddit trash. With the right prompts, you can make any model produce output like this.

If their prompt was just “Tell me about the holocaust” then this is obviously terrible, but since the original conversation with the model is hidden then I feel that it has been engineered specifically to make the model produce this.

Some people seem to think LLMs are oracles of truth, so if you wanted to rewrite history, this is how you might try to go about it.

The same Germany that is denying the genocide it is currently supporting and is suppressing anti-Zionist voices?

With the rise of the far right in Germany, I could sadly see plenty of them agreeing with this version…

Whatever the publicly stated purpose of the camp, the SS men who arrived there on 11 May 1933 were left in no illusion as to its real purpose by the speech given on that day by Johann-Erasmus Freiherr von Malsen-Ponickau

Comrades of the SS! You all know what the Fuehrer has called us to do. We have not come here for human encounters with those pigs in there. We do not consider them human beings, as we are, but as second-class people. For years they have been able to continue their criminal existence. But now we are in power. If those pigs had come to power, they would have cut off all our heads. Therefore we have no room for sentimentalism. If anyone here cannot bear to see the blood of comrades, he does not belong and had better leave. The more of these pig dogs we strike down, the fewer we need to feed.

It’s amusing that even when spewing nazi bullshit the AI is still incapable of writing without the half assed witty BuzzFeed blog post tone.
