I’m just waiting for all those gnashing their teeth at this to turn around and tell me “vote blue no matter who” in a couple of years/months.

I mean, things would be better if we had more Dems in Congress. Definitely not perfect, not even good enough, but slightly better than this shit show.

There might be more stuff you can do in addition to voting that people don’t want to discuss or encourage in public channels for a variety of reasons regardless of whether or not they would actually support that kind of stuff, but you may as well also vote if you can.

It’ll happen in the midterms, where suddenly we’re mesnt to ignore the last 6 years of policies from them and next year they’ll let Charlie kick the orange football.

Exactly, I’m so fucking sick of the DNC’s cowardice. Fuck them, fuck America, fuck the people who voted, left or right. I hope Trump gets his country nuked off the face of the earth, and then we won’t have to deal with these libshit Democrats.

It’s just like in the playground; almost everybody want to stand up to the bully, but nobody has the guts. They are afraid the bully will call them names or attack. And when finally one does stand up, the others cowers in a corner.

Not kill, shelve. Let’s be honest, you weren’t going to get dozens of GOP votes in the house and 20 in the senate to remove Trump anyways. If you want Trump gone then the only way is helping the DNCs take a huge midterm majority.

Why would we want to impeach Trump?

Trump’s approval wasn’t affected, if anything it went up. Republicans increased their support of dear leader. It just wastes time and effort so we can say Trump was impeached.

And for what? Who cares? Are we trying to look good for the history books?

The fascists are infighting and Trump’s approval in tanking. Impeachments are more likely to reverse that than to accelerate the process.

People act like this counts as some appeasement or enabling of Trump… as if third times the charm! Two of these bombs were dropped on MAGA and did fuck all. It’s not exactly “pulling punches” to not waste a third one.

You do realize that the impeachment isn’t the goal, right? It’s just the first step. If you want to forcibly remove Trump while he’s still alive, you only have 2 options. 1) You need Vance and half of Trump’s cabinet to formally deem him incapable of executing the powers of the office and replacing him with Vance under the 25th amendment and then (when Trump pushes back) have 2/3rds of both houses of congress vote to agree he’s incapable. Or 2) Have a majority of the House vote to impeach him, and then have 2/3rds of he Senate vote to convict, which will result in his removal from office. Impeachment isn’t just a formal scolding. That’s called a censure. It’s an indictment of a crime that will then be tried in the Senate. In both cases of impeachment last time, the spineless Senate voted to acquit. But that doesnt mean that they won’t ever break ranks or that in voting to acquit they may lose votes as a result.

How much proof do you need to understand they are working in concert to usher in an imperial fascist police state. The Democrats don’t oppose the Republicans, they oppose YOU. To them, YOU are the threat.

In the context of defending our country from the ongoing fascist takeover, Democrats being too stupid to understand that they need to do something about it might be worse than actively supporting it so I’m not sure what you’re getting at.

If Democrats had actual power to do something about it then you’d have a great argument, but they’ve had 50 or less in the senate for more than a decade and Trump is in power with a plurality election result.

Even the impeachment trial never would have convinced 20 GOP senators to cross the aisle to remove Dump from office, it’s better to save it for later.

The political system is completely fucked. A 3rd party might help, but it seems fairly inevitable that they too will become like the democrats as financial interests and lobbying corrupt them against the will of the working class. I think going grassroots with direct action is currently the best way to both resist, and build horizontal decentralized power that isn’t prone to corruption.

    1. find local communities and get involved to make connections
    2. We can effect things drastically with a general strike. This targets the establishment’s income streams, and can bring a fascist government to its knees if done on a large enough scale.
    3. Contact a union and attempt to unionize your workplace so that the general strike is even more effective (plus, ya know, better pay and working conditions as a bonus!)

This method would not only work in the US, but anywhere in the world.

    Union Suggestions:

    1. Continuing to participate in publicly visible resistance demonstrations like 50501 to encourage others to stand up with you and prove to that there are millions of others who will join them in the fight. A large part of Nazi Germany’s success in taking over the country was a lack of massive public demonstrations against the new regime, making people feel helpless and afraid to take a stand.

If we put in the work, we can resist this and we can win. Look at how effective these methods were when used in Chile in 2019.. If we completely reject the political system and rebel on a mass scale, there is NOTHING they can do to stop us.

Oh yeah cause it went so well for Chile. There was a government turnover and it fragmented the political parties so much that no one can agree on anything anymore.

Oh and the new people in power are learning by improvising.

If by coup you mean the rich trying to get richer, yeah the resistance worked.

The problem came afterwards, when the people were handed the power to actually change something it became a circus.

I don’t disagree that it ended badly, but had the movement not been pacified by the government’s bait of reform and a new constitution, it could’ve been revolutionary.

Your people showed the incredible potential of collective power and collective civil disobedience. The documentary shows both the victories, and the failures to learn from, just as Hong Kong did.
