I’ve had multiple posts removed for saying that phrase. I abhor violence. The reason that I detest Israel is that they perpetrate violence against a captive people. They can fuck off, as far as I’m concerned. I don’t understand why this is labeled as advocating violence.

Further to this, nobody interprets “Fuck Israel” to mean you hate the food, the weather, the terrain, etc because that’d be weird. I hate Florida weather, but I recognize that “Fuck Florida” is ambiguous, so I say “Fuck Florida humidity”

Zionists have tried to re-define anti-semitism to include any and all criticism of the Israeli government. There’s some legit basis for this, as an uncommon anti-semetic attack is to say that Israel has no claims to legitimacy, but it’s gone too far and been abused:

The definition was developed during 2003–2004 and first published… on the website of the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC). The publication was made “without formal review”, and [it was] removed from its website in “a clear-out of non-official documents”… Kenneth S. Stern, one of the original drafters, has opposed the weaponization of the definition

Saying “fuck Israel” is blaming all Israelis for what conservative, right wing, and easily misled Israelis are doing, especially when it’s Netanyahu’s allies and administration in control. Saying “fuck Netanyahu”, or “fuck the zionists” is probably a better fit while not blaming those Israelis that are appalled at the actions of their government and are being jailed for protesting the war.

Sweeping generalizations always come off as “racist”, “anti-Semitic”, or whatever else fits the content, no single people are a monolith, people are individuals with individuals ideas and stances, and not all of them good or acceptable, so it’s important to emphasize critical thinking and target your anger at those responsible for things, like Netanyahu and Hamas, since the problem isn’t all Jews, and the problem isn’t all Gazan’s/Palestinians/Arabs.

At the end of the day Hamas leadership gave their terrorists the go ahead for October 7th, just like Netanyahu is allowing the army he controls to indiscriminately kill people, so blame those pieces of shit, and the select folks that blindly support and enable them.

Just out of curiosity, would you feel the same way when people say “fuck Russia”, or would you understand that they’re saying “fuck the Russian government/Putin” and not “all Russians are monsters”?

I do feel the same way about “fuck Russia”, the problem is Putin, his allies, and his supporters, I’m not sure if this is just an attempt to whataboutism me, but it’s important to remember to be objective about these things, especially when prior to 2014 things seemed to he going pretty well between the US and Ruzzia.

Israel is the state, Israelis are the people. Saying “fuck Israel” is blaming the state, not the people.

Ive made similar arguments when people have said “fuck America” or whatever.

But in the end, the generalism is meant to be applied to the respectve govt, not to the entire population.

In the end, OP is right for being mad about their posts being removed.

Additionally, id say theres a non-zero amount of people in Israel who ARENT Jewish, which means saying “fuck Israel” and thinking its anti-semetic is kinda fucking stupid.

What about saying “Fuck the government of Israel”? That clearly states what your fucking off and can deflect the obvious next step of claiming you are antisemitic.

I have had a very difficult time speaking of this as so many of the Jewish people I’m around (Miami, Florida US) immediately liken any criticism of the Israeli government with hate speech.

Which is most definitely is NOT.

But at this point I’m just like , Yup. I’m antisemitic, antimuslim, antichristian. I equally dislike the Abrahamic religions (along with several others) because they cause so much harm, cruelty and destruction throughout history.

That’s about the only thing I have found that shuts down the the hate / race rhetoric.

It can be explained in one word: Zionists.

If you would like a slightly longer explanation: people seem to have a problem separating the Israeli government from the Jewish people, and think criticism of an apartheid government is condemnation of an entire faith.

It’s very intentional curation by Israel and Zionists in general. It is, in fact, harmful to every other Jewish person and antisemitic.

And that is a criticism of a government that is committing a genocide and operating in a manner that appears to be an apartheid state. Do you actually have something to say, or are you just going to pretend that you did?

Read what you wrote and what I quoted. I was pointing out that you left out “genocidal”. I’ll edit and embolden since apparently my comment was too subtle.

Dude, “genocidal” was always there. That was the point of my comment. I just added bold because you clearly missed it.

EDIT: look at my comment history regarding Israel’s conduct and let me knownif I’m lying.

As far as I can tell, he was agreeing with and “yes, and”-ing you. Nothing about it made you look bad except for your salty response.

Well, it’s sexual assault if they didn’t consent to be fucked.

Now, on a more serious note, Lemmy’s levels of censorship simply rival with Reddit’s ones.
