I would be happy if all tech left the city. It used to be a hipster village of social non challants and detected alternative social movements. A shining, hairy, culty, body odor having, punk rock city on a hill.

The tech takeover ruined the city and contributed directly to the epidemic levels of homelessness seen because it made the city effectively so expensive non millionaires can’t survive there. Most long time san Francisco families ended up moving out.

Take all the rest of tech with you please Mr. Musk. Make San Francisco an affordable city again.

It’s too late, the landleeches have already taken over. Any city remotely worth living in is too expensive to live in, and will remain that way until we eliminate the landleech class.

He wants to turn twitter into Wechat, which is used for paying basically everything in China. In San Francisco you can’t just get rich by funneling money, you have to pay taxes on it.

You would still get rich but he wants it all for himself and doesn’t want to pay his debt to the United States.

Rich people really seem to think that them just having shitloads of money in a location makes that place better. I’m a midwesterner and even I know San Francisco has serious issues from how in about a generation or two it went from a working class industrial and military city to home of several of the wealthiest companies and filled with enough upper working class people to skyrocket cost of living.

So to Elon, don’t bring X to my city either

“Turn around!” they begged him, as he strode slowly towards the desert sun, but he knew enough of Lot and of Orpheus, that it would only bring them ruin if he did. So heavy was his heart, that he glanced back with melancholy love, and thus the fair city of San Francisco turned to salt. He kept on walking into that desert sun, a heavy heart keeping him anchored to calls of vultures naysaying his poor sense of direction…

~Honestly good riddance to both. I have never seen more narcissists in my life than I have in SF.~

The rich engineers weren’t the demographic affected by the “rolling” brownouts. The people in McMansions had power the entire time, while the people in apartments were shitting in grocery bags because their toilets had frozen solid from lack of power for heating.

The “rolling” brownouts were really just rolling around the same poor areas.

          Top shareholders of Twitter include:

          1. Elon Musk (owns 78.7% of the company)
          2. Saudi prince Alwaleed bin Talal (5.7%)
          3. Oracle’s founder Larry Ellison (3.0%)

That’s true, but I’d imagine running a site like twitter actively costs money. If advertisers aren’t paying, who is? Do they go to their investors and ask for money? For how long could Elon personally afford to run Twitter with all of its development costs?

After the string of bad decisions he’s already made with this company, what makes you think he’s able to make good choices now? He has an echo-chamber where nobody can tell him to GTFO and that’s literally the only thing he’s ever getting out of it. It’s kinda like if someone paid an obscene amount of money for a junker car, then paid 10x that amount to put vanity plates on it.
