They can be both because the jobs they work pay too little to live on, so they need welfare to survive.
Of course that’s true for most jobs that non-immigrants work too, but a few cents more and you’re suddenly not eligible for grocery money.

There’s a saying, “the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing mankind that he doesn’t exist.”
I disagree. I think the greatest trick would be to prove that you’re the good guy, and the other guy is the bad guy. If anything about the Xtian Bible is true, Lucifer is absolutely the good guy.

It’s both! His slaves create the system, then sell it to the government, who is bribed to ensure it gets used.

The BBB is a privately owned corporation with all the issues of Yelp (blackmailing companies to pay to hide bad reviews).
All the comments saying it’s a distraction from how the working class is being oppressed by the owner class are right, but also…
There have always been bigots, small town small minded people who don’t “know any gay people” but there was that one skinny boy in their class that didn’t like sports so he was bullied until he left town at 18. And now, that generation of bigots is finally dying out. Not only due to age but due to an increased connection with the greater world. A small town bigot might not know any LGBT people personally but they are aware of their existence, due to television and the Internet. So quietly ignoring people who are different than you doesn’t work anymore. And a dying animal fights harder than ever.
These death throes are useful to the owner class. But they are still dying out. And if we can exterminate capitalism and figure out a way to survive in a post-warmed globe, we might just see the end of (this particular type) of bigotry.
things aren’t as rosy as they were a couple of years ago
A couple of years ago it was a thornbush with no roses, so what does that say about now?
The rich are actively trying to be yote into space. All we’re saying is redirect their rockets to ensure they don’t come home again.
My butthole is a marker unless I get a whiff of fiber, at which point it turns into a firehose. The only time I get a decent poop is when my diet is mostly sugar, cheese, and meat.
I’m in agreement except for the wedding planner. Whether they help with the planning from day one or are just the day-of coordinator, a good wedding planner is worth their weight in gold. I’d rather plug an old mp3 player into a portable speaker and skip the DJ before I recommend skipping out on the planner.
Gross, I can’t believe anyone would do something so disgusting! Using a plastic spatula making everything taste like melted plastic.
What’s an easier solution, in your opinion? Getting the ultra wealthy to give up their yachts and jets (by getting rid of the ultra wealthy entirely, which also addresses the evils of capitalism), or convincing hundreds of millions of people to change just about everything about the diet they’ve been eating for tens of thousands of years?
The UN doesn’t even have any influence with the UN. Even if I supported lethal enforcement of environmental protections (which I do in many cases), the UN’s idea of enforcement is a kindly-worded letter. If the USA doesn’t back something the UN has no power. And the USA is one of literally only two countries in the entire world that don’t recognize access to healthy food as a human right.
Half of Costco’s customers would be blasted!
I’m all for it.
It’s too late, the landleeches have already taken over. Any city remotely worth living in is too expensive to live in, and will remain that way until we eliminate the landleech class.
The biggest hurdle with getting widespread adoption of any scientific breakthrough is cost. If something is not more profitable than the current way of doing things it will not be adopted. Destroying our planet is pretty damn profitable, so until we exterminate capitalism I don’t see anything changing.
People who would ever consider voting for the Toupee have no standards. No bar, no logic or even thought goes in to who they vote for.
The people who are planning to vote against the Toupee have standards. And the Democratic party has continually failed to meet those standards. And the only time the people have any power to pressure a politician is when they’re running for office. Anyone claiming “just vote in the D, then we can focus on getting progress made” is a centrist who is ok being perpetually part of the oppressed class.
Yes, we need to vote against the Toupee, and the GOP in general. We also need a presidential administration who will get progress done. And since the human species has, at best, 30 years left before the majority of the world is uninhabitable, little baby steps won’t cut it.
So Harris and the Dems have a high bar. Because the alternative is fascism, or death by climate change.
It is all arbitrary though. There are some weak arguments about mental development but other than the generally accepted rule that human brains stop developing at around 25 years old, there isn’t any hard science between 16, 18, 21, or whatever. Individuals hit developmental milestones at different ages, whether they are physical or mental. Each age-restricted activity requires different types of development. A high schooler may be able to make an informed decision on who or what to vote for, but will be subject to peer pressure to drink alcohol to a dangerous level. You can now sign up to potentially get killed in an instant at 18, but you can’t intentionally give yourself cancer slowly. Kids have better reflexes than seniors, but are also more reckless (imo both ends of the age spectrum should require more frequent driver’s testing and restrictions).
So since it’s all arbitrary, either we make everything one age, and 18 is a common median of the age-restrictions, or we ditch the restrictions entirely and rely on more extensive and expensive regulations based on individual development.
