LinkedIn does this. Which is why I almost never look at any profiles on there. Not to mention it just sucks. Necessary evil for working slobs.
It’s normal to be curious about people you know. But seeing that someone “looked at a profile” could be misinterpreted in so many ways.
And even if users can’t see that info, the data harvesters can.
I think people can see who views you on Instagram.
This isn’t possible. You can only see people who viewed your stories.
You know you can just turn it off right? You just lose the ability to see who viewed you.
Play the game of turning it off most of the time, but occasionally turning it back on again just to see who viewed your profile. Then, turn it back off again.
You realize that doesn’t stop others from misinterpreting why you looked at their profile.
If you turn it off, they can’t see that you viewed their profile.
Oh cool. It’s news to me since I have never cared for that site
TIL thanks
I don’t use Facebook out of respect for myself
This.
Does it really matter how much more intrusive they are, since they’re already so far beyond the pale they’re coming full circle?
I have no skin in the game, because Meta is a cesspool and I refuse to use their platforms.
I barely use FB, and therefore couldn’t care less. I still have an account only because it makes me easier to find for people who want me to announce their derby tournaments.
That is it.
When the hell did they start doing this?
Right before you started creeping on your ex’s friends.
We know.
This was the case in the German copy called schuelerVZ back in the days. You could deactivate it than you didn’t see who was on yours and people still saw that someone was there
It’s such a core design decision that it’ll never happen.
Im fairly sure if you’re friends with a person and they look at your profile, they will appear at the top of your friends list. Feel like it has been that way for years
Is Facebook still a thing?
They used to allow it, back when you could add widgets to your profile.
This feels like a 15 years ago question.
Myspace did it and it immediately blew up in their faces because they did it without warning and they made it retroactive
When did Facebook add this feature/bug?
Whatever helps to ruin the platform for everyone sooner, I’m all for it!
