the fact that the federal government is removing sections from the Constitution on its official website should be the final nail in the coffin for anyone holding on to optimism or those remaining skeptical.
if you are in your 30s ask yourself if Bush would have thought about doing anything to even suggest altering or changing the constitution. the constitution of this country has long since been championed by conservatives to be “law of the land” as essentially infallible. they used to foam at the mouth if anyone attempted to revise a single part of it lest the entire document become obsolete.
it’s done, you guys. Project 2025 has won and we are not a constitutional republic anymore. dictatorship is being OPENLY attempted and if you still think at this point fascism is not here you are delusional.
wake up and get ready for whatever is coming after.
Hey fam, this post is racking up reports. If you’re serious about resisting a fascist government, the opsec of posting about it openly online is quite poor (you should probably delete about half your comments for the sake of security). I would highly suggest looking into local groups. Show up at protests and talk to people. I guarantee you that the community you are looking for is out there, but here is not where you’ll find it. Furthermore, instigating the way you are isn’t healthy for this community. You’re welcome to tell people they can and should resist. You should not, however, be telling people to die.
Im still amazed anyone is not going to the protests who absolutely can’t get there. LIterally the least people can do is stand up with other folks and say this is all bullshit.
Millions having taken to the streets in protest since Trump retook the throne suggests otherwise. What else are we supposed to be “acting like”?
Several organizations have decided to focus on brainstorming for 2026, which honestly makes the most sense. The Supreme Court won’t strike anything down, and we have prior art on whether the GOP would ever impeach and convict Dear Leader.
Police are known to use any excuse to escalate to violence, so there’s very little that can be done beyond showing up with some signs, which may go somewhere if shit gets bad enough, but for now, it’s not moving the needle. And we saw the L.A. situation where ICE and the National Guard were deployed against the wishes of state and local leaders.
Being aware of what’s wrong and being able to do anything about it are wildly different propositions. Call your industry-captured representative to complain? That’s gone really well so far. Meanwhile, we have plainclothes Gestapo working around to clock to silence dissent.
So again, I ask: How should we be acting in such an environment?
The people have no power at this point in the decline; the tech-corporate-military-industrial complex is the only constituent Washington cares about. Maybe if U1 shoots up to where U6 is now, the calculus changes, but that presumes accurate data going forward, which the recent sacking of the BLS statistics head suggests is unlikely to be the case.
Regardless, the environment now is “how far can I push without getting whisked away to CECOT?”
So again, I ask: How should we be acting in such an environment?
violently. enough is enough. peace is not an option.
First off, the civilians with shittons of weapons like where Trump is going. So the Second Amendment won’t do what it says on the tin.
Beyond that, what’s your plan for getting local police, county sheriffs, state troopers, ICE and the National Guard to all stand down in the face of citizen revolt? You don’t even have concepts of a plan here, but you’re happy to complain that others aren’t doing enough.
The government will always have more ammo than you do, no matter how large a group you can organize.
it doesn’t matter? you don’t simply roll over and allow fascism unchallenged. what are you a goddamn coward?
What have you done to bring down the junta? That you don’t like my opinion doesn’t give you the right to go to personal attacks. That’s not how we do things on Beehaw.
it’s not a dislike of your opinion as much as it is your deference. i have done nothing, admittedly. i am not immune from cowardice or inaction, but i know it is not the right way to behave so i must call it out in others as much as i do myself. i believe we need to change our culture and start introducing a rebellious narrative for people to rally around. we simply cannot just go: “welp, they got us by the balls. we’re too pacified, too reliant, and too weakened. better just go to work and come home and repeat until they throw me in a camp.”
Communities that reject these notions exist. But they don’t find you … you have to put in the effort to find them.
yes, i’d guess so. i have not yet discovered them. i do not currently feel protected enough to begin searching. i have a VPN but am looking into other things first.
Lemme take my kitchen knife to the police station and see how that goes. Any gun you can buy at the store is going to do nothing against riot shields and tear gas.
Violence wouldn’t work. You’re up against multiple of the most powerful militaries on the planet (if you split the military by branch - combined, well, it’s at the top).
it doesn’t matter. die then. you do not allow this to happen unchallenged.
it doesn’t matter. die then. you do not allow this to happen unchallenged.
I would suggest that committing suicide by cop is not going to be an effective way to defeat fascism.
also, posting shit like this on a public forum is a great way to get a Flowers By Irene van parked outside your house.
In fairness, Irene does have the best flowers.
lol well i wouldn’t be a lone wolf. i think that is a waste of good energy. there needs to be an organized movement, and also i am already on a thousand lists i couldn’t care less.
there needs to be an organized movement
yeah…
so here’s the problem with that.
you’ve got your organized group, of people who agree that violence is necessary to fight against fascism.
your group has a membership list with 100 names on it.
and you think that’s great, your group is getting traction.
except of those 100 people, 50 of them are undercover FBI agents.
of the remaining 50 people, 40 of them are informants who are reporting to the FBI.
oh, and someone in the group volunteered to do the boring, unglamorous work of maintaining the membership list, of taking the handwritten signup sheet you passed around and making it into a Google spreadsheet? that person is 1000% one of the FBI agents.
seriously. go read about the history of COINTELPRO. read about how the post-9/11 FBI made entrapment of would-be Muslim terrorists into their bread & butter. if you enjoy podcasts, there’s one called Alphabet Boys that is about this exact thing. listen to the 5-4 episode about Hampton v United States if you want to know about entrapment, because it’s much more than “no, they don’t have to tell you they’re a cop, if you ask”.
also, there’s a damn good chance someone is going to PM you saying “the people in that thread didn’t get it, I think you’re right, violence is necessary”. that person is an FBI agent.
this isn’t about “oh I’m on a list already lol”. this is about they will charge you with federal crimes, and your public defender will tell you your only chance is pleading guilty. prosecutors love this shit because easy cases pad their conviction record.
i know about COINTELPRO and what you’ve brought up here. i am aware of the incredibly difficult nature of it all. i appreciate your concern for me, friend, but i can watch out for myself. i’m not trying to claim to be the smartest person but my skepticism and cautious behavior is something i am constantly updating and being aware of. i just recently had an experience with an LLM scammer that took me a minute to catch, and because of that i’ve changed how i view everything from that point forward.
i don’t have any delusions about this being done easily or without significant risk. i know.
die then.
Congrats! After however many years I’ve been on the internet, you’re the first to tell me to die!
Go fuck yourself.
while i meant what i said in a larger sense it wasn’t to you directly unless the statement you made was specific to you. i was saying as a larger community, a collective as a people. i’m saying: go out and fight and be prepared to die. it is unfortunate and terrifying and sad, but it is ultimately the kind of person we need to change this path.
Sorry, I misread your comment then. I agree that we need a lot of people to band together and fight back, and we’ve seen that happening. But we can’t ask people to go out and die for the cause. They need to make that decision themselves, otherwise it won’t happen.
A battle fought with blood first needs to be fought with words. Change peoples’ hearts, and they’ll bleed for you.
no need to apologize, this is a heated topic and i am responding a bit flippantly due to the passion and anger i feel, so i understand.
But we can’t ask people to go out and die for the cause
you’re right, of course. however, what i would suggest then is to create a culture of rebellion and honor in fighting tyranny. there are countries that have had this mentality built into their culture, like Japan, so it’s entirely possible to do over time. i guess i haven’t yet figured out how to speak in a way that does that. i am ultimately ineffective at what i want to achieve culturally because i don’t know what i’m doing lol. i’m just flailing and hoping others get me.
Citizens are chasing ICE away in California. People across the country are preparing themselves for armed conflict. It’s “when” not “if”. There will be a flashpoint. There will be bloodshed. It’s going to happen real fast when it kicks off.
Citizens are chasing ICE away in California.
Yeah, but not shooting at them.
People across the country are preparing themselves for armed conflict.
This has been the case since before the Declaration of Independence.
It’s “when” not “if”.
That’s tautologically true. No empire lasts forever.
There will be a flashpoint. There will be bloodshed. It’s going to happen real fast when it kicks off.
I tend not to try to predict the future, mostly because I suck at it (see also: two ex-wives), but also because the more elaborate one paints a hypothetical future, the less likely it is to be accurate.
None of those things is a given. The ICE/National Guard situation in L.A. shows that succinctly, with multiple flashpoints yet not a lot of bloodshed. This set of propositions is just doomerporn.
if you want to go full Luigi, you’ve got our moral support. But most people can’t take that large of a risk. Most of us have families and loved ones that are still surviving under this regime, and being around to support those loved ones is more important to me than making gunpowder plots. Everyday life doesn’t come to halt just because fascism is creeping in in Washington.
you aren’t going to be able to support shit, my friend, that is my point. your life is about to get extremely hard very, very quickly. we don’t need me to be Luigi, we need tens of thousands. we need more than just me. i cannot do this alone.
I think it is hard for outsiders to comprehend how ignorant many US-Citizens really are. Trump himself doesn’t understand the three branches of the federal government, a basic and extremely important part of the system. Many, many others share this level of ignorance, it’s all part of the super-rich’s plan to gain more and more control, which has been slowing gaining ground for decades.
himself doesn’t understand the three branches of the federal government
He understands it’s been hallowed out over the decades, to the point it no longer reflects reality.
This is the .gov site: https://constitution.congress.gov/constitution/
And these are the missing sections.
But the banner says they’re “experiencing data issues”! I’m sure it’s just a mistake! /s

Next sprint, we’ll nail the Constitution! It’s all these changes to the text, you see?
Different reasons for different people.
Some because they expect to benefit from it - they expect to be a part of the autocracy.
Some because they’re angry and stupid and all they know is that people they hate are unhappy about it, so it must be a good thing.
Some because they can’t wrap their heads around it - they can’t believe that it’s really happening.
Some because they think they’re powerless to stop it.
And some because they just want to watch the world burn.
This sounds like a pretty good description of the situation.
I would add the seeming lack of true alternatives, as dems have repeatedly dropped the ball in the last few decades.
dems have repeatedly dropped the ball in the last few decades.
My entire life which would be five decades.
I believe people will wait until the absolute last second to act. It’s because the people who are rational believe in peace first. They will peacefully protest until people start getting attacked physically in large numbers. That being said, when shit does hit the fan, they will stand up and fight for what’s right.
I think you’re correct that fascism is here. But I think there’s still hope
we are attempting peace while violence is being orchestrated openly. it is, in my opinion, beyond the time to eschew pacifism. why would you allow fascism to gain additional momentum and wait until it starts trying to kill you? why are we not stopping it before it gets to that point? you cannot protest or demonstrate this away.
I personally agree. I don’t know how to get that across to people however.
In my opinion, I believe people need to see mass peaceful protest that gets brutalized by those in power in order to get them moving. Something similar to what happened in 2020. This is because I think largely people are either uneducated about fascism in history or are generally scared to act.
I could be completely wrong. But I think people have to have that shock. Something to spur them to action. Something so awful they can’t ignore it any longer. If there was a food shortage, for example, I think that might be another reason why people would revolt.
I’ve been waiting to see what finally breaks the camels back, but so far, nothing we’ve seen has been the tipping point. It’s frustrating to watch but it’s all I can do from my end other than talk about it
Kent State certainly didn’t improve the electorate’s opinion of Vietnam. Oh, look … there’s the National Guard again.
