It’s a great strategy to have your employees backstabbing each other instead of working together too. “Oh, Jim is struggling? Good, one more person below me in the ranks”.

Same. I hate eating with other people unless theirs a loud tv/music in the background. I have found that those loop earplugs help with it at least but then you have to answer questions about what those are.
They don’t allow privacy fences. Only shitty metal picket fences you can see through. Can’t go outside without everyone on the street all up in your business and everyone’s fucking dogs are constantly barking at each other and getting loose because their fence isn’t tall enough to keep them from jumping it.
I use WSL for cli stuff and I have Mint running in a VM for desktop stuff. I briefly tried dual booting but it was a pain in the ass and I ended up rarely switching to the Linux partition in practice.
The Star Wars OT. Probably ROTJ specifically. That was like an every weekend thing when I was a kid.
My job involves going out to sites to install equipment sometimes. This means as long as I’m walking out with a box in my hand I can leave whenever I want. My boss doesn’t care where I am as long as things get done.
Not really. Inflation is an average across the board but a lot of things that were affected by price gouging went up much higher. I’m not sure specifically how it’s all calculated but last time I mathed it out my expenses went up much higher than what inflation said they should have.
Meanwhile prices did not.
Mines the same way. It’s actually kind of difficult to get approval to monitor someone. Has to be approved by two VPs.
That’s my experience as well. When I got old enough that I started going shooting with people outside my family I was frequently shocked with how little regard a lot of them showed for safety. They usually had the basics down but their whole attitude made me very uncomfortable.
For sure. I was just giving my experience that teaching worked quite well.
My grandfather taught me about gun safety for as far back as I can remember. He didn’t keep loaded guns around where we could get them but that wouldn’t have mattered because the number one rule was don’t touch them without permission and I never saw any of us kids break it. He also drilled into us not to treat them like toys. They were never gotten out for fun. Only to hunt or practice with. Which is not the attitude I see in many other gun owners.
That it’s 7 years old and I can’t find a replacement that isn’t a downgrade in functionality.
Last one I had was when I turned 21. Which was great, but yea I’ve been lucky to get a dinner out since then.
It’s not totally de-valued. Being able to fix cars has gotten me laid more than probably anything else.
Yea, that’s how mine is too. I fucking hate this thing. At least with mine there’s separate lights that are not controlled by the fan I can use.
Ceiling fans should all have physical controls. Shitty 4 button remotes that don’t even work half the time don’t cut it.
The problem is that they didn’t pay for the content they’ve acquired and they’re selling it to others. The creators are not being compensated and may not want to participate in AI development at all. If the creators agree to it then fine but most do not. Just look at what’s happening with art. People are scraping all of an artists work to create AI pictures in their style and impersonate them. That’s not okay.
I was trying to keep it simple.
I would have paid them by purchasing the iphone and whatever software I used. I paid for the car that transported me. I would have paid for my education. People can also give their work away for free if they want, or be compensated by ads as in the case of Youtube or FOSS.
Current copyright is an utter bastardization of its intended use. Massive corporations are trying to act like they’re fighting for the little guy to own their IP forever. But they buy up all that IP for pennies compared to how they turn around and commoditize it. Then they own all of what society produces in perpetuity. They can sit on their dragon hoards and laugh as they gobble up any new creation that strays too close. And people wonder why everything is a sequel of a sequel of a sequel owned by massive corporations.
What do you think ChatGPT is trying to do? It’s already being used to churn out shitloads of garbage content. They’re not making things better.
I don’t understand the obsession with thinness. My phone has a case on it and already is like 2x as thick as a current phone and it’s fine. If anything it makes it easier to hold on to and type on. While I don’t care about having a physical keyboard, there’s a lot of other stuff they could do if they didn’t care so much about making it as thin as possible.
