    I do think everyone should report child rape, but it does sound pretty unconstitutional to require anyone to report any sort of crime.

      It puts them into a group of mandatory reporters- like teachers, doctors/nurses, childcare professionals, cops/emt/fire etc.

      The seal of the confessional isn’t constitutionally recognized. The rights of the kids to not be abused (physically, sexually,) outweigh the rights of the abuser to keep secrets.

        Fuck the abuser; the problem is the right of third parties to hide things from the government. Child rape is one thing, but what if the crime is “high treason” (aka pissing off the government)? With Trump accusing everyone and their mother of treason, this isn’t just a thought experiment.
