And I don’t see how you don’t. To me it implies what I’ve been saying, that they don’t believe Black Teenage Rappers can be innocent; because without evidence they must have made some assumptions to get to the point of him not being innocent. We know they don’t believe the kid is innocent because the sentence is exclusionary, implying no innocents died.

The ending is the same performative line racists always give. It’s completely normal for them to say something racist and try to cover it with fake sincerity or Schrodinger’s joke. Especially if it can place them in a position of superiority over that race. It’s the fig leaf to cover their message for anyone not meant to get the message.

Hey I’m not racist, a beautiful light went out and this is tragic. I cannot begin to imagine the pain their family is experiencing and I feel for the fans.

All I meant was that they were being dumb with a firearm and they didn’t hurt someone else.

I didn’t mean to say anything political or racially charged. Human life in all its colours and creeds are sacred.

Well then I apologize. And I owe you an explanation. We don’t really know each other and what you said read exactly like the offhand racist comments I grew up hearing on the East Coast. And as you might be able to tell I have a real thing about social justice. That particular sentence must have sounded okay to you, but to me it’s a parallel of cops not caring about murders if the victim wasn’t a “citizen”; the idea that black boys and men always hurt those around them; and that black men are inherently more criminal than white men.

Honestly I’m glad to be mistaken. Maybe, just maybe things are getting better.

It’s alright, I understand. Someone’s child died and I needed to comment with more precision and tact, knowing that people are hurting. It’s my fault and I only wish I hadn’t fallen asleep to catch what happened here sooner.

It’s nice to see actual discourse and not just you yelling at each other. Props to both of you.
