Of course, I wouldn’t expect many US Christians to accept the word of the literal Pope over the literal Antichrist

There is a number of Western “leaders” who need to be excomunicated for supporting the de facto Evil which are these new Nazis.

I would respect him and believe him if he and his harem of men in robes went and occupied Gaza and their food trucks while they were getting attacked. Do they want to protect innocent children or do they want to pay lip service for future excuses for why they didn’t do anything now?

Can you imagine if he sent even one Cardinal to the front.

He’s just have a zone of peace around him wherever he went.

Though yeah it would then be very important to discredit the Vatican in the USA.

They already kind of started with this during the Biden Presidency honestly.

It’s literally not possible to both follow the teachings of Christ and support a Genocide such as the one the Zionists are commiting.

In fact, the same applies to the followers of the Jewish Religion itself: of the commandments from God, Zionists regularly break at the very least:

      • Thou shalt not murder.
      • Thou shalt not steal.
      • Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
      • Thou shalt not covet anything that belongs to thy neighbor.

Whatever the fuck those people are, it’s not true followers of the teachings of the religion they claim to belong to.

Yeah, true, but these particular Zionists have based their religious beliefs on the supposed infallibility of one old dude in Rome. It’s one thing to do tons of mental gymnastics to avoid seeing brown people as human beings, but it’s another to disagree with dude X when your whole religion is built on unconditionally agreeing with and obeying dude X.

My point is that “mental gymnastics” is a standard way of thinking of most religious people.

Having grown up in a Catholic country (but not being a believer myself), I have yet to find a Catholic who doesn’t daily do some mental gymnastics to balance the contradictions between the way they live life and the teachings of the religion they trull believe they follow.

Merely once in a while when the Pope says something about it, coming up with some way to mentally handle the contradiction between what the Pope says and their own personal glee in an extremely Racist Genocide, is nothing compared with, say, their daily breaking of several of the Ten Commandments (generally Greed, Envy and Glutony) and going against the teachings of Christ.

Most religious people are hypocrites, and they do it by not thinking hard about it (those who do, generally stop being religious, IMHO)

The one I know said that Francis was “the antichrist” and wasn’t really the pope, or even Catholic. And based on her history, I can guarantee that she’ll have no trouble believing that Leo is “the antichrist”, despite the fact that there’s only supposed to be one.

She claims that she doesn’t use social media or watch the news, but somehow, she always believes things 100% the same as QAnon.

Well Israel just recently bombed a church and killed Christians. Of course the Catholic Church is upset killing Christians is their job.

Its also the most predictable thing. Israel is brutal, genocidal colonialism. What kind of morons are thinking they’re not coming for the rest of the minorities there once they’re done with the gazans?

The Israeli government just has the one trick.

Reminds me of people excusing the actions of Israel by claiming that Palestinians treat gay people badly.

Israel obviously uses special bombs which detect gay people and won’t go off if they’re closeby. It’s the only explanation for how they’re protecting gay people by mass bombing Palestinians.

It is not like “slaughter” is any nicer word than “genocide”. I would argue that slaughter sounds much worse to an average person.

Genocide is what Netanyahu is doing, and slaughter is how.

Pope Leo had telephoned Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin patriarch of Jerusalem, telling him, “It is time to stop this slaughter.”

This was second hand from an internal call, not an official statement. Even in an internal call he used the more graphic word “slaughter” rather than “violence” or “killing”.

Cardinal Pizzaballa and Greek Orthodox Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem were leading a delegation into Gaza to bring hundreds of tons of humanitarian aid into the enclave.

This is action, which you have to admit is far beyond the bare minimum of flapping lips. Many politicians use the word “genocide” and do nothing beyond that. I disagree with organized religion as a whole but I am not going to bad mouth a group that was housing 600+ people in their church, including elderly, disabled, and children. The church was hit by the IDF and they killed the priest, and after all that the Pope calls his Cardinal in Jerusalem, not to tell him to stop his aid deliveries out of a concern for safety but to convey that they need to work harder to “stop the slaughter”. Again, that’s more than the “bare minimum”.

Good catch. I agree with you here.

This is action, which you have to admit is far beyond the bare minimum of flapping lips.

Not for a man as powerful as the head of the Catholic Church. He could do more.

I disagree with organized religion as a whole but I am not going to bad mouth a group that was housing 600+ people in their church, including elderly, disabled, and children.

Yeah I really meant to yell at Leo in particular because IMO he’s kind of a moderate (compared to Francis). Good point.

Pope calls his Cardinal in Jerusalem, not to tell him to stop his aid deliveries out of a concern for safety but to convey that they need to work harder to “stop the slaughter”. Again, that’s more than the “bare minimum”.

Again I think that for such a powerful man, this is the bare minimum. For example, go to the church himself instead of sending his people.
