WASHINGTON, July 11 (Reuters) - A California farmworker died on Friday from injuries sustained a day earlier when U.S. immigration agents raided a cannabis operation and arrested hundreds of workers, according to a farmworker advocacy group.

Dozens of migrant-rights activists faced off with federal agents in rural Southern California on Thursday. It was the latest escalation of President Donald Trump’s campaign to deport all immigrants in the U.S. illegally.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said in a statement that approximately 200 people in the country illegally were arrested in the raid, which targeted two locations of the cannabis operation Glass House Farms.

Agents also found 10 migrant minors at the farm, the statement said. The facility is under investigation for child labor violations, said Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott in a post on X.

Hey mods, how many of us do they get to kill before you will let us talk about killing them?

I’ll do whatever the fuck I want, thanks. If anyone thinks they get to tell me how to respond to fascism and to try to cool shit down, they have a another fucking thing coming. This is real people’s lives. Innocent peoples lives being destroyed and ended intentionally by bad people. Shitty people who chose to do that job and choose to continue to do it.

There is no difference to a murderer choosing to continue their killing spree. If a murderer were running around kidnapping and killing any random person they saw, EVERYONE IN THE COUNTRY WOULD RIGHTFULLY BE CALLING FOR THEIR HEAD.

The rules and norms of our society are dead. They killed them. They are currently stomping all over them. Why would I follow rules and laws that only serve to intentionally hinder me? Why would I acknowledge the authority of anyone who would try to do so?

Absolutely fucking not. I got banned from that entire instance for saying shit like I want to say. That is definitely not a community that welcomes creative thinking

And actually… I think it was you who invited me over there.

Oh your that person that was banned by another mod, but said you operated an army of alt accounts you use to spam anyway so didn’t care that you were unbanned?

Well for anyone else, you’re welcome to participate. I made the community myself after similar bans for calls for action, and as long as they’re directed rightwards I don’t mind if others do.

Oh, well that’s funny because only 1 user was ever banned for that sort of speech.

And the person who was banned kept saying they were banned from the whole instance rather than just the single community, which is oddly what you’re also doing.

Must just be a coincidence, enjoy your day.

It sounds more like they had a script to create a lot of accounts on various instances so they “never run out” of accounts after getting banned so much for “calling for action.”

I do have to ask though, what did they get banned for? It’s not operating an army or whatever, because they mention this after the ban—right?

I understand your frustration, but us mods are bound by the instance-wide rules and TOS

Oh, and one of the people your arguing is reporting you as a troll, which you obviously aren’t.

Yeah I figure almost everything I say is reported. Thanks for not modding without checking context.

Lobby to change the TOS. No one is taking down lemmy servers. At least not yet—which could happen if things get worse.

Unfortunately .world is in a country with strict laws against that sort of thing, so they are at very real risk of getting shut down if they change their rules against calling for violence.

What a shitty, dishonest retort. The entire goal is to be allowed to talk about it so he can organize and gain allies so there’s a chance to win, but you’re just telling him to pointlessly suicide-by-cop.

It’s not at all strategically comparable and it’s dishonest rhetoric and it’s cyberbullying. That’s the kind of shit that ought to be banned!

Are you just talk? You want to advocate for others to do what you won’t?

They say actions speak louder than words so, hop to it. The rest of us will be right behind you…

they never will lol. everyone is afraid of the legalities involved and aren’t willing to risk lawsuits for your correct call for violent action. nobody is willing to support a movement of revolutionaries because it is bad optics. violence is unpopular even though it gets results.

Why not just deploy your own server anonymously in some jurisdiction where you can get away with this? Why harass the mods at all? This isn’t Reddit.

The problem isn’t the instance you are on. It’s the instance this community is on. I’ve started to comment less and less on .world because of their “both sides are the same” stance.

Right, I’m saying to roll your own server and host a similar community yourself. If your opinion is so popular then naturally users will flock to your server.

The catch here is that you’ll be forced to moderate it according to the local laws in which the server resides. It’s possible you’ll run into the same legal obstacles the mods here are forced to deal with. With a little empathy and understanding maybe you’ll understand why they are the way that they are.
