“Lock him up,” Tuberville told the news website about Newsom. ”LA looks like a third world country — anarchists are in charge, law enforcement is being attacked, and the rule of law is nonexistent."

An hour later, Newsom took to X to reply to the Alabama politician.

“Alabama has 3X the homicide rate of California,” Newsom wrote. “Its murder rate is ranked third in the entire country. Stick to football, bro.”

Its depressing that this is considered newsworthy, and not utterly embarrassing for both parties involved to resort to middle school one-upping.

Don’t throw stones if you live in a garbage house 🤷🏻‍♀️ not a hard concept

    • Don’t you fucking dare try to “both sides” this shit.

One side is eagerly throating fascisms cock, the other isn’t - regardless of any other flaws, there’s a clear difference.

Your ignorant, no critical thinking applied parroting of a stupid inaccurate phrase hurts all of us. Be better or don’t speak at all.

You know, like two months ago everyone was crying that Democrats don’t do enough fighting back against Republicans and your comment has me thinking “well this is why they weren’t.”

Damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

Making headlines by having the equivalent of a twitter fight does nothing to prevent harm. You know what would? Newsom ordering the national guard to return to base and reminding them that they will be prosecuted under state law for following unlawful orders.

One of the handful of US states who’s unofficial motto is, unironically, “Thank God for Mississippi” really has no room to pass judgement on any state not named Mississippi.

I thought it was Mississippi and Arkansas at the bottom. Although not for everything, growing up my home state of SD was consistently 51st in the nation for teacher pay (after Puerto Rico). Also one county over had the highest suicide rate in the world 🙃

Sick burn, but it’ll take more than a few clever quips to make me forget that Gavin Newsom hangs out with the likes of Steve Bannon and Charlie Kirk and spews right-wing anti-trans talking points.

The US as a whole is a third world country. Low average income, nearly non-existent health insurance, incredibly bad education (system), high wealth gap, fascism, insanely bad labor laws, the list goes on and on…

Low median* income. The average is skewed since a handful of people have all the money. Also don’t forget this:

If you’re going to be pedantic, please be correct.

Median is a type of average, as are mean and mode.

I’m not being pedantic, you’re just wrong. The average income in the US is deceptively high, whereas the median is very low. This difference or skew is a sign of inequality.

The arithmetic mean, also called the average, or the expected value, is not the same type of calculation as the median.

There are many types of means or averages (harmonic, geometric, etc), but they all require a summation, using an integral for continuous random variables and sigma notation for discrete ones. The median is the middle value. Totally different.

              • If someone checks “US average income” they’ll come away with the impression that Americans are rich.

              • If someone checks “US median income” they’ll come away with the impression that Americans are poor.

Median is not the same as average. Also, we don’t check math definitions in a dictionary, since we are not in middle school.

There are a number of conservatives who straddle a line such that I can’t be sure if they’re genuinely stupid or if they’re just cultivating that image.

Tuberville isn’t one of them though.
