      That’s a pretty meh solution. You need to sub to everything to populate your federated tab and then your federated tab becomes a tell of what you subbed to.

        That’s a valid point, but at the same time I get in my feed what I wanna folloe, and not random things so I end up spending more time on lemmy I ever did on reddit.

        That’s a plus for me.

      One thing I love about Lemmy is being able to remind people they can just start their own instance if they have issues with how things are being moderated.

        People could create their own subs and run them as their personal fiefdoms on Reddit yet it didn’t stop the usual bitching about mods.

          I think the difference here is a lot of mods on Reddit are very protective about their userbase. I’ve seen promotion of a new community viewed as spam and self promotion whereas on Lemmy people don’t really seem to care. You need it to be a two way street for things like better federation

          It probably helps there aren’t a ton of mega-mods here running 30 similar communities and only linking to them
