Social network Bluesky, an alternative to X built on open source technologies, has scored a big win in terms of attracting notable users to its platform.
Ah yes, notable for codifying and expanding Bush’s drone war and then… somehow getting a Peace Prize for that?
Also, we can literally blame the rise and prominence of Tom Homan on Obama? So should be still really be cheering for Obama at all, ever?
Can we fuck off with this pretending that these fucks didn’t enable the situation we’re now literally in?
Further, can we stop pretending that one corporate social media is better than another corporate social media. Jay Graber talks good game, but so did Zuckerberg, Musk, and Dorsey before they got their billions. You’re just building another billionaire who will turn on you.
Reminder, Bluesky owes literally millions to Blockchain Capital, a venture capital firm. They will have to pay that money back somehow. The enshittification will happen. And I’m sick of the weak loser excused “We will just move to another shitty corporation with another shitty corporate social media service when this one doesn’t work out.” Cool, and you’ll mint more billionaires each time you jabronis.
That’s half the reason people use it.
That half the reason is only for weird celebrity worshipping jackasses.
What the fuck are you talking about? Purity tests are why we’re in this mess. How many people stayed home because they couldn’t bear to pull the lever for an imperfect black woman over yet another piece of shit geriatric white fuckboi? All because she wasn’t progressive enough!
Good job! You saved Palestine! Ukraine is on the verge of victory!
edit: Don’t instrumentalize a genocide and an invasion to further push a bs argument about why you lost an election. Use real arguments. And fucking hell the sarcasm, it looks like you guys enjoy the pain of the oppressed because you can use it against your ideological fellow. The americans are broken it seems. Also remember that the democratic party lost against a rapist and felon who attempted a coup. Get a grip. Maybe it is time for introspection.
Jesus fucking Christ. I saw what was coming and even though she was far from my choice, I did what I thought mattered more than how I personally felt. Get over yourself, dude. I can look at things and have an opinion and still choose to go with what matters when literal Nazis are on the other side of the equation. Like I said, it’s literally not my fault that more than half the country was too fucking dumb to clock that because they’d been fed the same bullshit for decades.
Did you forget we’re talking about a fucking twitter replacement, not the fucking election?
For the hundredth time. If people are staying home the fault is with the candidate. That’s how voting works. You have to earn votes. Either accept that or get used to losing.
Not that you liberals are all that upset with the results.
If people are staying home the fault is with the candidate.
I’m going to try and appeal to whatever reason I hope you may possess by saying that under normal circumstances- you’d be absolutely correct. And that there’d be no sound logic in anyone disagreeing with what you are saying, because definitively, without argument- that is how elections work.
However-
The key term that differentiates your point from being a reasonable one is- UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES.
It was made VERY clear what we were going to be facing had we not done the bare minimum and just voted- despite how we felt about the quality of the candidate. In short: this was NOT normal circumstances. We were told what was going to happen. And when Someone like that tells you what they intend- you believe them. And those of us that used our vote as a shield to stand agent them, told you, every one of you- what was going to happen if you didn’t help hold the line.
As I said- under normal circumstances, their job absolutely IS to put up a good candidate. I don’t disagree with this one but- But it is OUR job to use our votes in these circumstances to protect our home from being invaded by someone that has told us the extend of damage they intend to inflict upon it.
So, If you consciously chose to abstain from voting because Harris didn’t meet the quota of perfection required to satisfy your expectations-
then you stood aside and helped to allow it this into our house. There really is no other way to look at it.
Based mod response. I get so sick of purity politics and using that as an excuse to justify letting fascism take control, but people gotta justify their choices somehow…
This has nothing to do with being a mod and everything to do with rational thinking.
I said nothing that I am happy about having had said. I just see the forest for the trees. Accepting the responsibility of facing reality has nothing to do with letting fascism take control.
In fact, if you were paying attention, I voted. Along with all the others that knew what would happen if we didn’t. So in that- WE tried to stop this- did you?
You’re simply wrong. And to tell you you’re wrong I have literally all of human history to show you. In particular the last election. It doesn’t matter what special circumstances you think exists. You have to appeal to the voter. That’s essential that’s the first step and no other step matters if you don’t take that step. You will lose every time if you forget that step.
You people keep banging your heads against this I don’t know how you don’t get it.
Politics is much deeper than this futile attempt to redirect blame towards activists. It’s funny how you never acknowledge the majority of voters who are apolitical.
You have the gall to talk about circumstances when Democrats have done the bare minimum to respect their voters; they spit on them, erase any form of accountability and responsibility, and the hardline Democrats stay silent.
Fetterman, Sinema, Manchin, Pelosi, Sanders… and those who act as controlled opposition get no defiance. You guys are numb, you get frisky when you protest a little over a coup d’etat. You do not value democracy. You act all righteous without doing shit, it’s depressing.
You never self-reflect whenever you are in hot water, you shift the blame to Republicans. Why? Why don’t you reconcile with what the Democratic Party stands for? Why not acknowledge the mistakes and move towards a better party? Why never acknowledge the ineffectiveness of the Democrats, their lack of spin… I hate doing this, but 100% of the Democratic leadership team were funded by AIPAC in 2022. Why?
Of course, an authoritarian government is the worst thing that can happen to a country, but the people you are spitting on are the ones who have actively given their lives to avoid such situations, while Democrats were joking about them.
Your argument holds no ground when looking at the numbers…and the situation. Act accordingly to the reality, stop focusing on easy target. Give hell to the ones who deserve it.
Additional context just because: “Democratic Party’s favorability at a record low of 29%, with 52% of Democratic-aligned individuals believing the party is heading in the wrong direction”
I put the blame where it lies. with the over ninety million registered voters that didn’t vote.
This is not up for debate.
And that is because, of those ninety million registered voters that didn’t vote- it’s safe to assume that among them lies the difference between Trump destroying democracy from within the Oval Office and Trump rotting behind bars a long distance away from it. I was among those that chose to stop him from destroying democracy- I voted. If you didn’t, do don’t get to say this. Is that virtue signing? I suppose that all comes down to whether or not you consider doing the bare minimum it takes to protect democracy.
And as I said already, this isn’t a boast. This isn’t how I’d want it to be. But, this IS how it is. So… contrary to what seems to make you feel better, there are no virtues to be found here.
I see things for what they are, not what I’d want them to be, and not what makes me feel better about believing.
But if it help you to think I people like me are to blame, I suppose it doesn’t really matter anymore- does it?
Yes listen to the person that shows you the actual reality of what just happened. Don’t listen to the moron inside you who thinks you can keep doing the same thing the exact same way and expect a different result. Yes please listen.
And? If we want a proper xitter replacement it has to have notable people. That’s half the reason people use it.
Ah yes, notable for codifying and expanding Bush’s drone war and then… somehow getting a Peace Prize for that?
Also, we can literally blame the rise and prominence of Tom Homan on Obama? So should be still really be cheering for Obama at all, ever?

Practicality beats purity.
The practical choices we’ve made have all be war criminals
Pardon?
How does this nonsensical comment currently have 5 points? Who upvotes this? Or are they just bots and/or sockpuppets?
It’s funny how comments like this almost always have a handful of points, regardless of what they say. They don’t even need to make sense.
That dipshit attitude is what got us here with Trump as President and multiple Constitutional Crises to go along with it.
That’s literally what the Democratic party has sold us for twenty god damned years or more. Probably closer to thirty.
That was literally the kind of reasoning that led Chuck Schumer to pass the recent CR.
Hope your conscience is clean.
You are disgusting.

I literally voted for Kamala Harris dumbfuck.
It’s not my fault half the country can’t fuckin read and worship celebrities.
Oh so you voted for her and you advocate against the entire reason for voting for her? Have your cake and eat it too bullshit?
Jesus fucking Christ. I saw what was coming and even though she was far from my choice, I did what I thought mattered more than how I personally felt. Get over yourself, dude. Did you forget we’re talking about a fucking twitter replacement, not the fucking election?
Then stop defending the people who made that choice
And you decided to write five paragraphs about Obama and twitter.
For the hundredth time. If people are staying home the fault is with the candidate. That’s how voting works. You have to earn votes. Either accept that or get used to losing.

You’re free to disagree. I’m not here to argue. I tried appealing to reason where there is none.
Enjoy your afternoon.
Virtue signaling 101

Jesus listen to yourself
Yes listen to the person that shows you the actual reality of what just happened. Don’t listen to the moron inside you who thinks you can keep doing the same thing the exact same way and expect a different result. Yes please listen.
You have literally no idea what I did, what I am currently doing, or what I plan to do. You’re flinging shit and seeing what sticks.
