While this is true, not vaccinating is something more often found in conservative populations. And this problem is 100% caused by people who refused the vaccination that could have saved them.

I was living in a rural area, many left and right, and honestly both sides have similar amounts of conspiracy theories including anti-vax. I assumed it was mostly right sided until I ran into many examples myself.

Here’s the thing with these anti-vaxx morons. Even if they contract measles and survive it (it can be dangerous in adults), you can sure as shit bet that they will not get the shingles vaccine once they hit 50. Shingles will fuck you up if you let it.
Both chickenpox and measles is severe in adults, it can cause temporary infertility. Shingles is a little hit or miss depends on your age and immune system, had it at 20.
Shingles hit my elderly mother-in-law and it had severe cognitive consequences. It’s an unnecessary gamble, but that’s their problem.
The poor kids that have no choice are the ones suffering here, not the asshole parents.
