Summary

New York’s congestion pricing tolls are staying on, even as Trump tries to kill the program.

They were federally approved under the Biden administration and launched on January 5, charging most drivers $9 to enter Manhattan below 60th Street.

Gov. Kathy Hochul condemns the Trump administration’s move to revoke approval, calling it an attack on the city.

The MTA immediately sued the U.S. Department of Transportation, insisting the government can’t unilaterally end an active program.

By refusing to comply, the MTA keeps tolls running while legal battles continue.

I think you’re misunderstanding this particular situation. Hochul didn’t ignore Trump’s order; he’s going to contest it in court as outside Trump’s legal authority as president.

Yeah, I kind of knew that from glancing at the story. Just let me enjoy my fantasy where the US is not about to fracture and collapse into the sea, amid a big chorus of “But he’s not allowed to do that!”
