Yes the correct answer is don’t be on facebook or anything it owns, but also nobody should be doing this, anywhere. Keep the heat on the bastards.
Also, use a good adblocker to prevent Facebook tracking you as a non-user. Ublock and Privacy Badger are useful.

Deleted my fb account today. Instagram too. Hadn’t really used it other than to talk to my parents. My mom quit too, so I told my dad we can chat over sms and use other video platforms. Been a Facebook user since 2010, a little sad that the site has degraded so much

I rarely use Instagram but am about to delete my account there. Will be ceasing to use Whatsapp too, and hopefully deleting my account. I’m otherwise off of meta products. Only problem I foresee is that when traveling out side the US, everyone tends to want to use Whatsapp
Signal is the best option. The only downside being that it relies on your cell number. Otherwise it’s the most secure platform/protocol.

Naw there’s serious momentum for an exit. Most subreddits are banning X links. Anecdotally a lot of people who I would have never expected have reached out to me about Instagram alternatives. We have power here. Let’s not squander it by pretending we don’t.
