Trump has always hated the military.

Edit: He has always hated soldiers, I’m sure he loves the military industrial complex.

I was reading about this earlier today and I’m still baffled. He is honestly saying that he thinks giving a monetary contribution directly to himself makes someone better than a person who sacrificed themselves to give idiots like him the freedom to make an ass of themselves. I really hope every single veteran sees this and realizes that voting for Trump de-values your contribution. Please know that most of us do actually respect and appreciate your service!

You’re welcome. AFAIK nobody I severd with or the vets I know support Capt. Bone Spurs.

John Kerry was eviscerated by the press for throwing his medals/ribbons at a protest, but Trump gets a pass? Corp. Media needs to change back to local broadcasting with market limited ownership.

As a veteran… I don’t hold a lot of hope that veterans or soldiers are smart enough to recognize this.

Hang on, how did a US soldier give Donald Trump the freedom to say stupid shit? Who was going to take that freedom away, and perhaps the most bizarre part of all: why did the soldier stop them from taking that freedom away?

Heh there are times I do really wish someone were directly threatening Trump’s freedom to speak, but then I enjoy how frequently he is digging his own holes lately.

However to your point, today it’s more about the US showing strength which generally discourages anyone from trying to attack us. That does include sending our troops to foreign nations to back up our allies. Even when many of us don’t agree with the policies like the never-ending war in the Middle East, our soldiers are still heroes for doing their best to protect the rest of us back home.

TL;DR: Trump is offended that people value those who give their lives for the benefit of their country over those who look good on camera and give him money. And his PR team stands behind him.

Go read or listen to literally any Medal of Honor citation.

If you think a Presidential Medal of Freedom is in any way close to those stories you must be a weirdo.

“Conspicuous gallantry” is the key word in all of them. They get rejected so easily if they have bad or inaccurate writing in them, that it takes decades and Pentagon as well as congressional approval including thousands of people throughout the process reading the citations on the award before getting the stamp of approval.

It means the dudes that earned them did something so absolutely fucking brave in the face of 100% certain death to save their battle-buddy or win an engagement with the enemy, that only someone with very specific and slight insane suicidal state of mind would even dream of considering. No one normal in regular combat earns a Medal of Honor.

      Fuck Trump.
