Yeah for the love of God please don’t actually start using the bullshit word a LLM shat out to please you, “moronophilia” is a seriously problematic word to use for the concept you’re asking about and it’s not even an actual word used to describe such. Us mentally ill folks are not fucking morons, please for the sake of common decency do better and think more critically about the things you see and read. I’m not a moron for being born with a screwed head and abused and traumatized into having further disorders.

GPT invented a word that would please you. It is not an accurate answer. In fact, the answer it gave is rather insulting, calling mentally ill individuals morons.

    TIL[1]

Attraction to disability is a sexualised interest in the appearance, sensation and experience of disability.[1] It may extend from normal human sexuality into a type of sexual fetishism. Sexologically, the pathological end of the attraction tends to be classified as a paraphilia.[2][3] Other researchers have approached it as a form of identity disorder.[4][5][6] The most common interests are towards amputations, prosthesis, and crutches.[1] As a sexual fetish, attraction to disability is known as devotism, and those with the fetish are known as devotees.[1]

Sapiosexuality is a type of sexuality that involves being more attracted by the contents of a person’s mind than by the appearance of their body. To feel sexually attracted to another person, a sapiosexual person must first feel intellectually stimulated. Intelligence is often the first quality a person notices in a potential partner.

The word sapiosexual originated from the Latin root word ‘sapien,’ which means wise, and ‘sexualis,’ which means sexual. Sapiosexual is still a fairly new word, as Merriam-Webster’s first known use of the word was in 2004. According to research, between 1% and 8% of people aged 18 to 35 may be sapiosexuals.

Anyone can identify as sapiosexual, including both heterosexuals and LGBTQIA+ people. This means that people who identify as sapiosexual may be straight, gay, asexual, or another identity.[2]

Just out of interest, what is the context for asking this? Mental health and neurodivergence is a prickly topic and if you’re asking this, I worry where you’re getting your information from.

Exploitation of vulnerable people is a thing, but it isn’t universal. And people in relationships with people who are vulnerable aren’t automatically exploiting them. No need to rob people of sexual autonomy just because they failed an IQ test.

Although, tbh, someone explicitly claiming they have a fetish for depressed people should set off some red flags…

Not because something it’s bad you should make it a taboo, I believe discussing things it’s good for human development.

Edit: personally I didn’t find mentally ill people attractive, but nowadays when everyone it’s mentally ill(or victimize themselves about being it)I think it’s important to know this kind of things.
