How completely insecure must you be that you’re so afraid of trans people that you move entire factories to other states? That’s the noise of a fragile man baby.

Usually you move factories for tax breaks. You can say whatever you want for the reason, though this reason just makes him seem stupid and hateful.

I really think that Musk is like the modern Citizen Kane, and we need a new Orson Welles to show the depths of his depravity.

No no no, when you’re this conceited, you care more about how your perfect gene pool could ever have spawned such an abomination. Then you use your insecurity to do something you were planning on doing anyway due to taxes to appease your conservative fanboys.

And I don’t really agree with the law either. I don’t like the government telling children it’s ok to lie to their parents. I can imagine an enthusiastic extremist counsellor convincing a kid their feelings mean they were meant to be the opposite gender when they really weren’t. Parents being clueless until the court protected therapy was already planned. It’s a little dangerous.

Its not telling kids they can lie to their parents, its saying that schools aren’t required to put kids into dangerous situations arbitrarily. And only in this very specific scenario.

I look at it differently. It’s a step towards the state raising children instead of parents. It takes those specific guardianship rights away and hands them to an arbitrary school employee.

In the future, when it expands to other social aspects, we’ll have no recourse. Still sounds like an overreach to me. It’s not like parents don’t swing towards conversion therapy in many cases. Just read up on the couple who breast fed their kid on a non-functional nipple and was in the process of transitioning their 5yr old.

“I don’t like children being safe from abusive parents. Parents should decide what gender their child is despite court-protected therapy.”

All parents preventing children from speaking to a therapist about being transgender are abusive, that’s probably why it needs to be court-protected, huh? Regardless of the (utterly fictitious) extremist radical guidance counselor “tricking” the child into (gasp) starting therapy.

This law isn’t about preventing therapy, therapy is still available. This is about control.

What were the parents going to do about the therapy before it was planned? Did you not read your own thoughts?

Maybe the parents should have a more active role in their children’s lives. I feel like your argument is a dog whistle and I can’t think of any parent who is involved in their children’s lives who wouldn’t know their child is or wants to transition.

You want to talk about government control over families, look at what the Supreme Court did with Roe v Wade.

No way that’s the real reason, the real reason is taxes. So many California millionaires move to Texas for the low tax, only to realize once they’re there that it’s a shitty state with a barely-functioning power grid. Unfortunately it never seems to click for most of them that the low taxes is a big part of why they don’t have a competent state government.

I’m sure they’re aware, they just don’t care. Being wealthy they can buy more than their fair share of the power grid, or any other utility or government service, for less than they would pay in taxes in a functioning state.

He wanted to go Texas for the taxes for quite some time now. All he needed was a lame excuse to blame his own cheap decision on someone else.

So maybe I’m stupid but… Why? Why does he feel he needs an excuse beyond “taxes are cheaper in Texas”? Like, it’s understandable that a business owner wants to reduce costs, and reducing your taxes is one good way to do it. The blowback from saying something relatively mild like “I want to pay less taxes” is going to be way less than the blowback of saying “I want to leave California because trans people have too many rights here” right?

I’m not trying to defend Musk or anything here, I’m just so confused why he’s going this route

He can farm hay on the SpaceX property and pay farm taxes in Texas. There are several mega factories down there that do this same thing.
