Doesn’t this play into Trump’s threats towards Venezuela’s government? The nobel peace prize committee just handed a lot of legitimacy and publicity to someone opposing the same regime Trump is targeting.

Trump wanted it sooo bad (well, he claimed it is probably closer to the truth) and now it’s awarded to someone from Venezuela. Did not Trump made the army shoot at Venezuelan boats ? Oh the irony … the irony

To be fair to Barack Obama, I think that even he didn’t think he deserved the Peace Prize for basically just being elected. His response after finding out was very much a “uh…ok…really? You sure about that?” because it undermined him and the Peace Prize

But my relief at not having to hear gloating vs. the usual orange-flavored aggrievment is real.

In order to truly spite him, they should have given the Nobel peace prize to the global sumud flotilla.

      Which would be a travesty.

      Flotilla: symbolic act of protest

Trump: put pressure on Israel, organized regional and international coalition to end war in Gaza, Israeli troops are retreating as I’m typing this.

Hate trump as much as you want. He was actually effective here and achieved something good. The flotilla only achieved social media outrage.

I hope he hears he’s in the running for next year and then kicks the bucket a day before the winners are announced… since Nobel prizes are not awarded posthumously.

          Yup in 1961.

Since 1974, Nobel Prizes can’t be awarded posthumously. However, if the recipient dies after the announcement, they can still receive the prize. Before 1974, posthumous awards were possible if the nominee died after February 1st of the same year.

He is going to sue the committee and then fire all the staff members. Replace then with his unqualified staff and give himself a Mickey mouse award.

María Corina Machado comes from a super rich industrialist family, whose companies were socialized by the government. She is the embodiment of antisocialist capitalism, which gives itself a coat of liberal virtue paint when it loses power.

She’s also extremely pro-Israel and has asked America and Israel to invade and bomb her country. Yuck. The Nobel Peace Prize is such a joke I won’t even be surprised or upset if Trump gets it next year.

Her winning seems like a gesture towards Trump. Like “hey, you didn’t win but guess what, an enemy of the regime you’re considering toppeling won. Maybe you could work with that.”

They should be renamed to the “Nobel War Prize” if that’s really the intention.
