Teachers and employees of all sorts are being fired for the same. One teacher (can’t find the story right now) got fired for simply quoting Kirk’s now hilarious “acceptable deaths”. And earlier, Musk was pressuring the Microsoft CEO on Shitter to fire employees that are critical of Kirk.

    It’s a complete Uno reverse of 2015

That’s next level where just quoting Charie verbatim is enough to lose your job!

I remember when comics were overtly anti-fascist.

Many of the characters’ entire personas are inextricably linked to anti-fascism.

Really depends on the writer. I know The Dark Knight Returns is beloved, but there’s the themes in it that I’m not so sure about.

My point was that it’s never been entirely one way or another. You can cite examples of aggressively progressive comic like X-men or the Superman-KKK comics, but the super hero format itself leans libertarian and if the writer isn’t careful, they end up supporting that or worse, a libertarian writer promotes those ideas while hiding behind the canon of super heroes. I’ve heard some batshit takes from otherwise progressive comicbook readers.

I’d like to have sympathy for these people, but when you put your fate in the hands of businessman this is what happens.

At DC Comics, we place the highest value on our creators and community and affirm the right to peaceful, individual expression of personal viewpoints.

Your actions say otherwise DC. You openly supported terrorism and hate speech when you decided to harm an employee who was a member of a vulnerable minority being actively terrorized. The level of evil and hurt you just subjected this employee to is unforgivable. I will never touch another product or property of yours again.

Shame on you, you evil, nazi accomplices.

So, the entire fucking mediasphere is suddenly bending the knee to right-wing bigotry? What the actual fuck is happening right now?

This is insane. We’ll end up with this white-washed, boring mediocrity.

Same with that MAGA-actress from The Mandalorian. What she said wasn’t even as radical, just bought into the whole election fraud conspiracy, iirc. Now we have a formerly good show where every new character AND their actor are basically PC-principal from South Park. The left failed to support her there because she was a bit of an ass, supporting a bigger ass, but no laws were broken and she fit the role perfectly: Not that smart, badass, hardly an ally when you have no other choice.

Enlightened centrists are left to create our art and literature. Well, at least the 1800s and 1900s produced a lifetime supply. But a contemporary reflection of our society, of our politics, like “1984”, like “Der Untertan”, like “Im Westen nichts Neues”, that used to be a huge part of it, and it’s slipping away.

Fiction is an actor we should not pull out of public discourse. It has been crucial to it, probably long before the first written word. Unless a crime is committed, let them write!

I doubt the show was ever good because it’s made by disney and “safe for china,” but I get your point.

The censorship and abuse of power on both sides needs to end. Barring that, any smart person should just recognize the tribalism for what it is and use it as a way to differentiate themselves from the average idiot.

Stupid people don’t magically become smart because there’s more of them, although stupid people will not understand or accept this.

Yes wouldn’t want to see violence being promoted by DC Comics. DC Comics are never violent clearly. It’s absurd to suggest otherwise. All DC heroes operate under the strictest tenants of pacifism.

It was always projection. They don’t give a fuck about YOUR feeling, but they are the most sensitive of snowflakes on the planet.
