U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin agrees with him that letting voters send in ballots by mail puts honest elections at risk.
“Vladimir Putin, smart guy, said you can’t have an honest election with mail-in voting,” Trump told Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” after a nearly three-hour meeting between the leaders in Alaska. “He said there’s not a country in the world that uses it now.”
We don’ care. Show us the Epstein files. We know you wont because you know what you have done. All these women are not lying. I doubt any of them are.
Good for him, I’m glad he has such a supportive daddy.
When you think it’s the onion, but it’s real life instead
And what do the people want?
Political figures have forgotten that they are supposed to represent all of their constituents.
HEY TRUMP, PUTIN SAYS RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES.
Weakling asks for permission.
Who the fuck cares what Putin thinks about anything?
Other dictators. They care more about each other than their own people.
Right? In a way, though, i do kinda care: if Putin says it is bad, it’s probably good.
Remember when USAians were terrified of the Russians.
What a fucking demented weakling.
Postal voting isn’t a secret ballot so there is concern wherever people aren’t entitled to a private residence of their own. However the accessibility and the presence of paper ballots for recounts (which reduces conflict and increases trust) is such a larger social insurance.
Its obvious why free countries embrace mail in ballots especially in a heavily rural country like the US.
Secret ballots are really important. There should be an effort into making in person voting more accessible and ending postal voting imo. Not american though, but i know my country historically had a very big problem of people being coerced to vote for certain candidates. The vote now is secret, spreaded all around the country and public transportation is free on voting days, which are on weekends.
Oh, I’m sure that motherfucking PUTIN agrees with Taco on that. How can you scare and intimidate voters if they are able to safely vote from home?
“He said there’s not a country in the world that uses it now.”
Sweden does, and probably other EU contries aswell.
Belgium does as well
Spain does
In Switzerland about 90% of people submit their votes by mail.
Australia does too
The US uses it, too
Some places allow online voting (Estonia) and one of my municipalities, even pre-covid!
Canada does, and all we have to do is request a ballot be mailed to us (in or out of country).
Some US states do this as well. Here in Colorado they mail you your ballot a few weeks before election day as the default. You are able to mail it back, but most people drop them off at secure boxes around town on their own time. You can still vote in person but its way more of a pain in the ass to do, idk why anyone would. Mailed ballots are far better
I can’t ever imagine going back to filling out a ballot at the polling location. It’s so much easier to do at home, when you can take time to actually research all eleventy-billion candidates for federal and state and county and city, then props and measures and…
Voting isn’t like a test, where the questions are unknown before you get your hands on it. Sample ballots are available well before you go to vote, allowing you to research all the candidates and ballot issues as much as you want, before showing up at a polling location.
And as far as I’m aware, every state lets you bring a “cheat sheet” with you, in case you don’t remember who you preferred for city council position #5 when you looked up the candidates last week.
I spend a day or two making my cheat sheet so that I don’t have to figure out what all the down-ballot stuff is the day of.
And with mail in ballots, you can just put a stamp on that cheat sheet and your job is done. No need to stand in line and re-copy everything again.
This is one of the most terminally online things I’ve ever seen…
If anyone reading this is stressed about voting in person (and don’t have a viable mail-in option), you need to know that your anxiety is completely unfounded. You will be just fine, trust me.
If the first time you’re seeing the candidates/issues is when you step into a voting booth, you’re doing it wrong.
republicans only do it in person, thats probably why the gop banks on thier votes, and they dont voter suppress thier districts either, they do it in a democratic county though.
Tons of Republicans voted by mail in 2020
I have seen a lot of Republican states making it harder for voting
Washington State uses only mail voting, it’s fantastic. You get your ballot in the mail, a voter booklet with candidate statements, and you can use a drop box or USPS to return your ballot. Then you can check your ballot status online and get a text when your ballot is received! It’s wonderful when your state actually wants people to vote
Poland have it. After you regiester, the national mailmen will come to your house on electiin day, but you vote in the sealed envelope and hand-deliver it to the balot box… Becouse, you know, disabled people exist. The have the right to vote. Any system that doesnt create the real opportunity to vote for people that have the right to vote is not democratic.
We all are going to be disabled at some point.
Portugal does it too.
Germany too
Same for uk
He meant among the countries with fair elections. You know…Russia…North Korea…did I say Russia?
I miss the days when politicians and presidents at least tried to hide their corruption and shady dealings.
“He said there’s not a country in the world that uses it now.”
Yes, blindly listen to what Putin says and ignore all the countries that do have working mail in voting.
That map is wrong. Spain have postal voting for everyone. You do not need to meet any requirements.
Sweden has postal voting for everyone.
Well I know that map is fucked showing Missouri as green…
in France, people abroad can vote online, otherwise you have to present yourself to vote, with paper, in transparent box, and you’re free to participate in the counting
There should probably be another cour on the scale for countries that don’t have voting at all, like black or gray or something.
That’s… actually surprisingly few. I thought it would be more common.
Two obituaries I can’t wait to read.
Kinda bummed nobody tried something. In a country with so many guns you think there would a single rebel in this death star of a country. Not even some rogue canadian.
