Never liked Jack Black and I can’t point to why
He was great in High Fidelity but unfortunately he’s played the same character in every movie since!
I’ve found Jack Black works best when he appears in a supporting role. When he’s the main character he takes the entire film and makes it “Jack Black the Film”.
Put him in something like Tropic Thunder? He fits great. Have him lead School of Rock? It’s too much.

That is true. Voice acting starring role works just fine. He is still just himself, but himself is a panda so it works.

Also I think King Fu Panda was one of his earlier roles that propelled him to stardom. He was terrible in Shallow Hal (that was a terrible movie overall) but he was fine in School of Rock and I think Nacho Libre also came out before KFP?
And he was great in Jumanji (the new one)
He was kinda toeing the line in Tropic Thunder tbh, easily my least favorite part of the movie
