I didn’t realise that my PTO started at 8:00 would have assumed it was a day in general.

You still need to know who isn’t going to be there so that you can get coverage for the absence and such.

edit: shit, you’re right. The manager needs to know who isn’t coming so they can cover.

I mean, maybe? I’m off work right now for injury. Is the work getting completed? Apparently it is according to the group chat. Yes they want me there and I am an integral part of the group but guess what? The world still turns and the sun will come up tomorrow.

I guess what I’m saying is that this person’s coworkers might even recognize they have a problem that can be solved (in 8 hours!) and will just cover their slack. Sucks the coworkers have to cover the slack but hey, that’s what we do, right? We cover for each other. Have for 125,000 years.

Yeah, I mean, it’s not the end of the world if the coverage doesn’t happen, but it still sucks for the people who are still there. It would be nice to not have to deal with that, and ADP has the ability to help but chooses not to.

Oh…ADP sends you a whole email telling you that someone is requesting PTO, who cares who they are…oh you want to approved it or something? Yeah go login to the app buddy! ADP doesn’t do links.

your default answer should be “yes” and “request” should be replaced with “notification.”

if you are a manager, then manage. ;) pto is not only part of compensation but also a human right.

My first reaction wasn’t, “Oh, the manager is trying to decide whether or not to grant it,” but rather “oh, the manager needs to put it into a calendar and find coverage and they can’t if there’s no name attached.” Super frustrating, especially if you end up asking the requestor to cover their own PTO because you don’t know who it is.

I 1000% agree. Just make it a notification. Leave me out of it. All we need to know is that you’ll be out and when. You can deal with wether it’s PTO or if you aren’t getting paid. If the company you work for needs to reject your time off, that’s a shit company and you should quit.

I was so confused looking at the picture. Then I read your post and you’re the person who is supposed to approve or “deny” this time off.

Holy shit we live in a hellscape.
