  • It’s an interesting problem.

Does the EU let Chinese vehicles in, allow the reduction of EU manufacturing, reducing jobs available, possibly imposing further poverty on the poor, and possibly to the point where they can’t afford the Chinese vehicles anyway?

Does the EU add taxes to Chinese vehicles, making them less available to the poor, but possibly protecting jobs within the EU? Perhaps whilst trying to engage EU automakers to make more EVs?

Does the EU add taxes to Chinese vehicles, without pushing the change to EVs, and just jot really manage this situation well?

My money is on aspirations for option 2, but in reality option 3.

  • My comment specifically states that killing him wasn’t the optimal solution here, so I can’t see how that’s your intrepretation of it.

That’s my interpretation of it because you’re basically saying that because he was breaking the law (maybe you’re saying that it’s because he was breaking specific laws), it’s justified that he was shot and killed.

Whether you want to pussyfoot around the distinction between him deserving it and it being justified is beside the point from my perspective because I don’t believe he did deserve it or that it was justified.

Seems like we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

  • It’s not like someone can just pop out 100 children to skew votes

On an individual basis sure, but this still poses two problems:

    1. Is there a group of people that typically vote a certain who are prone to having more children than other groups. Due to different cultures, this is likely true.
    2. Why should parents of children get an extra vote over those who can’t have children? Personally I feel that havning had children should bear no influence on the power of your voice.

  • Whilst I don’t want to argue about whether the appreciation of people in your life should be encouraged by a celebration day, I would like to point out that holidays aren’t specific to appreciating people . They can also be for appreciating things , such as natural phenomenon.

Personally I’d prefer winter and summer type celebrations on the equinox and solstice than Christmas and a seemingly random (in my country) public holiday at a point in the summer where it isn’t that warm anymore.
