Class loyalty trumps any kind of political philosophy.

This is what people have difficulty recognizing in Democrats, that establishment Republicans and establishment Democrats have the same fundemental goal; protect the class structure above all else.

They need to sometimes give the appearance of fighting for some popular policy position now and then, but ultimately they do not care or want progress. The ideal outcome for them is the appearance of struggle towards change without actual change.

That’s why things like abortion never got legislated even with a supermajority, it’s too useful a tool to give the appearance of fighting for something while doing nothing.

That’s fine, it’s a dead end anyway. We need a path to healthcare reform, not a system that forces people to pay out for private insurance.

Democratic temerity at its finest.

China isn’t a smaller threat though because, in the same way that Russian bot farms didn’t have to be domestic to manipulate MAGA heads in to trying to topple our democracy, the CCP does not need to be a domestic power to have really destructive influence in the democratic process (which is their goal).

This idea that the CCP is some benign force just sitting “over there out of everyone’s way” is naive to say the least. The Internet is one of the prime places where they attempt to control narrative.

You realize the CCP absolutely does have global social engineering campaigns, right?

I hate this strategy so much. What it says is “Our candidate is so lackluster and uninspiring that they can only beat the most out there fringe lunatic”. Really shows the absolute shameful state of the Democratic party, the lengths they’ll go to to avoid catering to their base.

You can’t work within a party that does everything to suppress progressive candidates. Even when progressives win, dems allow groups like AIPAC to unseat them even if it means putting a republican in their place. Or you have people like Nancy Pelosi who made it her personal quest to fuck over any progressive running in a pary, even if it meant propping up anti-choice shit bags like Henry Cuellar.

No, this is an issue of a culture of suppression within the democratic party, not the fault of progressives. The major, sustainable wins that do occur for dems in purple or red districts often come from progressives when they’re not kneecapped in their primaries and are actually supported by their party.

You can’t on one hand claim you want progress and then talk about how progress doesn’t get people to vote.

Huh…almost like the lesser of two evils is a losing strategy that produces loser candidates that their own base won’t come out and vote for, huh?

Almost like the insistance of dems on fielding these candidates has shown a repeating pattern of failure.

That set of political beliefs is what has lead us to where we are though.

We’ve voted for the best worst option for 40+ years. None of them have been willing or able to stop us from getting here where we are right now. So what does that say about that strategy?

Being aware of it is an important step though. Admitting you have racist tendencies is not the end of the world, it is good to recognize that in yourself, it’s the only way to actually realize how deep the roots of prejudice go and to try and get to a point where you’re able to forgive yourself for things that were out of your control.

For those of us who were born into a context that steeped us in racist beliefs I don’t know if there’s a way to fully get away from all of it on a subconscious level, it’s more like a curse that you’re stuck with and just have to commit to managing whenever you notice it floating up into your behaviour and decisions.

Maybe eventually we’ll get to a point where we raise a generation that doesn’t have the curse, until then just do your best.

You have to remember that China is not a normal country even though they have been working tirelessly to make the world believe they are – China is at the bleeding edge of techno-fascist authoritarianism. When Orwell’s character talks about “a boot stamping on a human face, forever” that’s the path the CCP represents. They’re the next stage in that direction if humanity follows.

Whether the old fucks in congress are doing it for the wrong reasons or not, I still support its ban. Anything that hinders the CCP is good in my book.

You’re talking as if Biden is doing something to stop the genocide in Gaza rather than literally funding it…I think it’s you who needs to re-read what you’re writing. It’s not about their lives being forfeit, it’s that he’s literally as genocidal as any member of the GOP up to and including Trump. The genocide is going to continue as it has weather it’s Biden or Trump, full stop.

All you have to do to understand that is look at Biden’s complete non-response to the uncommitted vote. He wants to “hold a meeting” and “have a dialogue” with Arab american communities when he already knows exactly what they want. People are tired of this run-around nonsense, it’s not selling anymore, especially when it comes to a genocide. There is no negotiate and compromise here.

The more you try to talk down about how we all need to suck it up and support a pro-genocide president, the more I become convinced that your politics are as philosophically bankrupt and hollow as the GOP.

The absolute nerve of trying to wave Palestinian lives around as if that serves as some kind of a defense of the people actively funding their murder at this very moment. Absolutely detatched from reality. To try and guilt people because they won’t vote for that is unconscionable.

You’re politics have failed for 40 years, it’s time for you to introspect and change, not the people doing the only thing they can possibly do to hold Biden and Democrats accountable.

I’m going to repeat it: What about the situation right now makes you think that voting for establishment dems for the past 40 years has worked? This is where we are. This is your gradual change manifested. We’ve been doing exactly what you are claiming works.

Again, if I wasn’t clear for some reason – this entire line of thinking that Democrats should be appealing to conservatives is why we’re in this position where you’re literally going to go vote for someone supporting a genocide. That’s *literally *what you are going to be voting for because your politics have put us all in this position.

Fuck gradual change. Where did that get us over the last 40 years? Look around you for christ’s sake, this is the result of your gradual change strategy, we’re living it right this very moment. Does it feel like our country is headed in the right direction?
