Waddup?! I run the orbi.camp lemmy instance on my over engineered homelab. #selfhosting

Nah, don’t give that much credit to a loud minority.
Are you a child? Who has discussions like this??
I mean, unrealistic to get anything close to all active users donating. Nobody should be expecting to setup an instance an expect tens of thousands of dollars a month.
As an indie dev back in the day, it’s a fraction of uses are willing to fork anything at all.
If anything, if you’re a whale, go big on your individual donation if you want a large impact.
Either way, you shouldn’t need that much money to cover server costs for a mere 16,000 users.
That would make it unusable for single user instances…
In the 30s range at least in my experience.
Not most I know lol
The point I’m trying to make with some snark is: it’s not a static platform, it’s open to all those who are capable to make the change they want. Not to take the fediverse as a single entity.
I mean, maybe it’s just different vocabulary for both of us?
To me: a blackbox is a thing where input and output comes out in a consistent way, very functional. While the box can make accurate predictions or decisions, the exact reasoning behind them is often unclear.
Fedi is ours, so make a PR adding support for it!
I mean, still sounds like a black box.
Feel free to recommend some!
I joined it but the main feed was just a lot of NSFW content… So made it kind of awkward for discovery.
Except I wouldn’t own it. Shitty car in the first place, at least for the price.
What a name
Nah, I got one and I support this. (geting rid of mine)
Been doing it for years without said issues, so can’t help you there. But not being technical enough is super valid.
Oh, I meant Adguard Home, in it you can configure whatever upstream you want. Basically another alternative to Pi-Hole. And router level, I meant configuring the DNS there, so all devices default to it. Not a VPN per say.
What’s haiku?
As an engineer with almost 2 decades of experience (including streaming sites)… It is.
