Because conservatives do not actually care about reducing the number of abortions that happen. If they cared about that, they would be all-in on affordable access to contraceptives and comprehensive sex education. Which they also, as a movement, oppose.

These are critical chemistries that enable modern day life
Then maybe we need to examine “modern day life” with a more critical eye. Some sacrifices may need to be made, because they are worth being made.
There are also measures that lie between “ban” and “use freely”. If we cannot eliminate the use of these chemicals in chipmaking, then we need to reconsider the disposability of these chips, or we can even consider if less effective processes result in less damaging chemical use, and accept a bit of regression as a trade-off.

For me it’s the fact that nobody really believes us when we talk about our issues or even the things we personally experience. Even well meaning people, even friends, immediately assume that we are exaggerating or imagining things when we talk, or assume they know better about what is or is not harmful to us.
Like the obvious hateful transphobes are one thing. But getting that attitude from people one knows personally is tiring and more than a little scary.
For those of us not in the US, I think this also highlights the real need to loosen the US’s stranglehold on the Internet at large. The US has disproportionate power to control content on the Internet as a whole, because so many services and so much infrastructure resides there.
This highlights the importance of building redundant services elsewhere in the world, and moving content outside the US in general. So if the US tries to remove LGBTQ+ content in some cultural crusade, you laugh at them. Make them firewall it, like China, if they don’t like it.
How obnoxious. Doubly so because there is no way you don’t actually know what the above commenter is referring to: that the average Millennial or younger person has had a significantly more difficult time accumulating wealth than Boomers did at similar points in their lives. So you are aggressively misinterpreting them, then acting smug about your own misunderstanding.
You aren’t going to find an instance that both tolerates hate-speech, and is federated with mostly everyone. That’s not how that works. Sorry, you cannot have your cake, and eat it too.
Federation is a two-way agreement. Instances that do not allow hate-speech will also not probably federate with instances that do allow hate-speech, because of all the hate-speech.
This is bigger news than some folks may realise. Twitter is MASSIVE in Japan, their market penetration is huge there. Losing grip on Japan would be a major blow to the company.
Also probably a blow to Elon’s dream of becoming a cyberpunk corporate overlord, considering the genre’s bubble-inspired imagery.
