If you only need a basic server, laptops are AMAZING.

• Full x86 software support
• On the rare occurrence you need to directly interface with it (as opposed to through a webgui on another machine) you have a built-in keyboard and monitor.
• They have a god-damned built-in UPS

One codebase across all OSes and OS versions, no dependency issues, easy to push updates.

I’d prefer a native app myself, though.

Even professional photographers don’t have their cameras on them at all times, nor are they as convenient for just whipping out and taking a picture within 1.5s.

Plus, cameras are expensive and they’re another thing to carry around (idk about you but I don’t have infinite pocket space) and they’re another thing to keep charged, whereas you have a phone with you at pretty much all times anyway, because they’re effectively required for modern society.

You may as well be saying you don’t understand why phones can play music when you can get an MP3 player, that you don’t understand why they play videos because TVs exist, that you don’t understand why they have web browsers and plenty of apps, because PCs exist.

Wayland is more than ready for 99% of people, and has been for a while. Whenever I use Xorg it feels janky.

While this is true, it’s absurd to think that IBM in the 1930s/1940s is anything like IBM or RedHat (which btw is ran completely independently from IBM) now.

RedHat contributes more to the Linux desktop than anybody. It is impossible to avoid their work, they do so much.

Fedora is also community operated. Although there’s a bit of an informal understanding between RedHat and Fedora to work together.
