It’s 2070, the water wars have been going for 5 years. 90% biodiversity gone.

Legislators: “we are in the final stages of a bill to limit plastic cup usage to 10 a day for each citizen. Earth is healing”

January 2018 for the UK, wild that the US is so behind that even California is only just getting to it.

          we’re really not behind…

this act banned the beads in most personal care products back in 2015.

you might be all like “well my enlightened country has a total ban on plastic microbeads, not just in certain products… checkmate atheist!”

if that’s you and you live in the vast majority of countries, including the aforementioned UK and Canada, then your country doesn’t have an actual ban on these by your definition either!!!

idk where the OP gets its claim of “first in the nation legislation,” tbh. haven’t read this article yet. might update this comment later.

Fair enough, thanks for calling me out. I’m glad it’s not as bad as I thought. The article title threw me off as well.

I’m assuming most producers stopped using them voluntarily when there was a spate of negative publicity, maybe there’s still some stragglers that are still selling it.

Next headline: tRump administration blocks California from issuing any more regulations, mandates microbes in drinks. tRump quoted: ‘make drinks great again! We’re bringing back the plastic straw! Paper straws, so dumb, many experts call plastic the best! Now we’re making them better with beads!’

Well… yeah a lot of paper straws literally implode on themselves after about 2 good sucks. I tried going reusable metal straw but it started growing something in it even though I washed it daily. I think the old myth that the plastic straws were killing turtles has run aground seeing as that floating island of garbage is all fishing gear and cigarettes… so I just want to go back to plastic straws so I can enjoy a thick milkshake even if Im getting a heavier dose of microplastics my brain is full of them anyways from sitting here on my plastic sofa.
