I don’t care if people call me stereotyping or other specific terms. This feels so obvious to me. There are people like Trump with his evil tilted eyes or Amy Coney Barrett, Joe manchin, Matt Gaetz, Marge traitor green, Stephen Miller.

Essentially stupidity and/or evil faces. It can even be stereotyped further with obvious checks. Wearing a cross on the neck? A dress? Pickup trucks, American flags, church etc etc…

Why do Conservatives, (who are definitely evil) look so obviously physically evil? Like it warps the flesh! I can’t be crazy, people see this right?

This is one of those times when you’re gonna have to acknowledge your own cognitive biases to move on. We all have them. This one is pretty obvious.

That’s almost entirely untrue. Ugliness has little to do with political beliefs. I know some incredibly ugly leftists. But, y’know, being ugly isn’t a moral failing. I’m sure there’s some attractive enough conservatives, it’s just that they tend towards less… interesting styles and aesthetics (conservative scene people aren’t real). Attractive≠ good, ugly≠bad. 1950s Disney ass belief system.

Physically, they shouldn’t look any different than other people. However, most people can subconsciously detect ill intent from facial expressions, so that’s why you think they look evil.

Well shit this is what I’m talking about! Perceiving Ill intent is a survival skill we evolved over our long evolution. This is a continuation of that. Ill intent = evil more or less.

Conservatives will think the same about any public figure who’s any degree to the left. It’s just a human cognitive bias at play that we’re all susceptible to. If you think someone is a shitty person, that’s going to cause you to overemphasize whatever physical features you find negative about them. The danger of this is that you might in turn start using those negative features as an unreliable heuristic to judge the character of other people before you even get to really know them.

The different fashion/makeup trends among people across the political spectrum can also come into play similarly.

There are conventionally unattractive public figures on the left too, but if you know beforehand that they’re on your “team”, you probably won’t even take particular notice to these “defects”. In some mirror universe where MTG was as far left as AOC, you’d probably wouldn’t think she looked “evil”.

Then what are these half million year honed instincts? The ability to sense danger when around unstable groups, the stranger danger that tells us maybe we shouldn’t sit down next to this particular person on the bus, or that people that are always scowling and frowning, are not going to suddenly smile and laugh with you?

My guess is that they’re the remnants evolved biases that were formerly useful, like being able to spot the differences between Homo sapiens and Homo erectus, that we still possess but just aren’t useful anymore. We still have a coccyx (tailbone), but we sure as hell don’t need it.

This could also be completely wrong. I haven’t studied evolutionary biology.

or that people that are always scowling and frowning

Black women and misogynoir have entered the chat.

Maybe sometimes people have valid injustices they face in their lives that make them not likely to be all sunshine and roses and smiling all the time.

Are they “evil” because they are not ready to smile and laugh with you?

The “angry black woman” stereotype has literally been used to belittle black women and paint them as “evil” for generations.

I won’t fight a war together with any moron who will fight others based on their looks, so I guess you’re on your own there … I’ll probably fight others based on their actions, so hit me up again once you’ve reached that stage of moral development.

        You literally can not.

All you are doing is classing up ableism under the cover of resistance. Republicans provide more than enough reasons to hate and distrust themselves, you don’t have to pretend it’s physical defects. In fact, presenting this weak argument just makes them less likely for their supporters to be reached.

Focus on the substance, not the aesthetics.

I literally think, respectfully, that you are wrong. Society likes to tell us that this isn’t true, that it’s not possible. Science, even. However, pending further studies I simply disagree. I 100% believe it’s very possible to see “Evil” in people’s faces. I’m sorry if you won’t accept that.

Wtf I’m not Mormon. If I could I would wipe them all out. Living in Utah for 6 years as a kid was traumatic on its own. So kindly fuck off with that comparison.

I sincerely hope that someday you can see that this is exactly how stereotypes like Jewish noses and bad science like phrenology started. You’re walking the same path as the bigots; don’t become the monster that you’re fighting.

You sound like a evangelical preacher yelling about “physically evil” minorities. Mark of Cain turning people black as sign of their “taint”, queer and trans folk not following gender norms looking “ridiculous” or why feminist are always “ugly women who are jealous”. This sort of rhetoric has long been used to justify all flavors of bigotry.

You believe what ya like. Obviously I can’t stop you, but there are better arguments to make and better uses of your energy.

Lol you got me! I just want to genocide and murder all religious and conservative fascists worldwide. Sorry I want the world to be objectively a better place. We should no longer tolerate intolerance. It’s going to be us vs them in the end. Otherwise I suppose I’m dying in the concentration camps…

Sorry I want the world to be objectively a better place.

You’re reducing racism and bigotry to an unmuteable fact of their biology. If someone like MTG or Matt Gaetz did a 180 and started showing up at protests talking about the inner workings they was privy in the white house, introducing bills to protect trans folk and correctly identifying the genocide in gaza. Would they still be ugly?

If not, then it’s not an objective fact about their body, but their choices and opinions. If they are still ugly, then I guess their choices were born with their inherent “uglyness” and they no longer have responsibility for their choices.

At best, this idea white washes personal responsibility, at worst it’s a further divide that keeps MAGA fucks from listening to objective reality. They were just born to be racist so why even bother?
