I think there’s so many Hozier songs that are better, but I agree, I don’t think it’s bad by any stretch. Maybe just a tad overplayed? Can see how people would hate it for that.
Black Hole Sun.
It’s a tedious, grating and ridiculously repetitive dirge.
One day I realized I had been hearing it at least hourly on the radio while driving delivery and some switch in my head flipped. Can’t stand it. I want to never hear it again. I’ve heard Black Hole Sun more times in my life than I want to and that amount needs to stop getting higher

I had to listen to that shit played on loop for a week straight when the cruise ship I was working on chose it to be used to constantly stress test the PA system. Any time I hear it now, I get extremely angry and want to break something.

I absolutely hated it when it was released and played everywhere, and I recently accidentally stumbled across it, and to the surprise of nobody, I still loathe it.
- Melody of a lullaby.
- Least interesting chord progression in existence.
- Lyrics as if they were written by a 12 year old.
- Annoying motifs.
Honorable mention: How you remind me. I’m not just bandwagoning on nicklelback hate here, I actually kinda like them, at least their first album. But that song is so overplayed and overrated I simply cannot stand it.
I had never heard it before, but it sounds like a song that would play on some straight-to-dvd knockoff of a Disney movie with janky 3d animation, with the director’s daughter playing and singing the lead role.
Wow, never heard this one before and completely agree with each point. Not sure where it would’ve seen much air time in the US back then, though I’m sure my hometown was small enough that no radio station had it.

Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond. I’m from New England so I hear it often and the back story makes me cringe every time and I haaate it
I sing Sweet Child O Mine and Sweet Caroline with the other songs melodies. Confuses people nicely.
Went to a Yankee wedding in New Orleans(where i’m from). This tune came on and those people went nuts. Knew every word and I just stared in amazement.
Yeah as someone who has spent almost their whole life in the Carolinas I am sick to death of that song, especially when people do the little singalong bits.
