I bet all those people that got tattoos of “There’s no place like 127.0.0.1” are so embarrassed now that IPv6 has been adopted globally.
There’s no place like
localhost
Indeed. Has “home” ever been an alias for 127.0.0.1?.
“With modern science, we’re able to see what kind of memes they’re making in the year 2300.”
Those are probably the same people running my ISP, because there are no expectations of them ever implementing ipv6…
now that IPv6 has been adopted globally.
Now that is a quality joke
OP is right, though… https://stats.labs.apnic.net/ipv6/XA
I cannot use mobile data with ipv6, as no carrier in my country gives them out.
Just vpn to your house that has ipv6. Simples.
Well, still less than half of the internet
Yes, but globally means around the globe :)
Glad to learn that
HTTP/0.9
is still “in use globally” then. A bit surprising, but since it’s all about stretching definitions past what is reasonable, for the sole purpose of having the last word, let’s shoehorn anything into anything to the infinity and beyond!!! 🤡🚀Don’t worry, it’s both
So 37% of the world…
Ipv4 is till the vast majority
Africa 2%. Nigerian princes falling behind.
It’s 2024 and no isp’s in my country still provide ipv6 from what I have seen.
adopted globally
Lol yeah, okay. Talk to me when you can actually get to most sites with IPv6.
Also, https://whynoipv6.com/
Last time I checked my router’s statistics, IPv6 destinations were a bit over 50%. That included torrents, though, actual website traffic is much better.
The only website I can think of that I can’t reach over IPv6 is Github.
Hmm, didn’t know IMDB and StackOverflow were still stuck on IPv4. Not surprised Paypal and Twitter are still shit, but I rarely interact with them.
I can’t say I use the other domains.
No place like ~/
No place like $HOME
My home provider had IPv6 for like two years, after I specifically opened a support ticket for it. Now it’s broken and they won’t bother to fix it, because no one else asks them.
Feeling personally attacked here… I’m coincidentally trying to get ipv6 remote to my machine working right but I don’t know what I’m doing so while everything is working by itself anything I try fails… 💀
(I don’t need help, it’s better if I learn it the hard way)
There is nothing wrong in asking for help if you hit a wall mate.
I’ll bring a scraper
No place like localhost
No place like loopback
