    In accidents (like shaving) a razor does not hurt as it cuts because it is as such a sharp straight edge. The first thing we notice is the blood not the pain. It hurts afterwards (like any other cut does). A saw hurts as it cuts because of the serated edge. But we all know what is meant by the swallowing razorblades metaphor so I regret even mentioning it.
