Petro is a rather radical leftist un Colombia’s context. However I agree, it doesn’t make muchos se se forma him to order this, specially since this is gping to hace a negative effect con his ratings.
There’s some hipothesis, but none of them have evidence:
Guerillas/criminal armed groups. Miguel Uribe’s discourse was heavily against them
People from his own party. This is a huge blow to Petro, and possibly unificates the right.
Leftist party: I don’t ser this one making sense, but is Colombia, nothing would surprise me.
Other business: he comes from a powerful and corrupt family, that has ties with narcotrafficants.
Something interesting is that the hitman, a 15 year old boy, tells to people who captured him when asked about who contracted him that “I will tell you the numbers”.
For someone not familiar with Colombia generally, what would you say he meant by “I will tell you the numbers”? As in, economic numbers, like he was motivated by the desire to protect his future? Or numbers like what he was paid? Or numbers like there are gangs with numerical names like “the third fourteenths”? Or…?

I have no idea neither, but my guess is that he meant the telephone numbers of the people that contracted him.
You might not know for sure, but that does seem like a likely explanation! I don’t know how I didn’t think of that. Thanks!
