I still have an old ipod. So old it has no wireless ability. I want to use it in my car which doesn’t have a cassette or cd player. It plugs into the car’s usb port but the car radio “doesn’t see it”. Any tips on how to get it to work?
I don’t know about iPods specifically, but Bluetooth transmitters (that connect to 3.5mm audio jack) are cheap.
Or if you’re willing, you could surgically mod your iPod.
Why are you posting this in Lemmy Shitpost? This doesn’t belong here. Pleae post this in an appropriate Community.
That being said, I’ll answer your question. Does your car have an audio jack? If so use that with the iPod.
3mm male-to-male audio cable
It doesn’t have an audio jack
Ugh this is such an annoying trend. I ran into the same issue with my friend’s newer car. I couldn’t plug in my mp3 player. Fuck these piece of shit manufacturers who can’t even be bothered to include an audio jack. And fuck 99.99% of people who just stream ass quality audio through spotify over bluetooth. I’m sure there’s some hacky device/converter you can find that will convert the audio out to bluebooth or something. But of course this will likely decrease audio quality b/c bluetooth is dogshit.
It has wired audio out, right? You can get earphone-to-bluetooth adapters and connect the car that way. They also make devices that transmit over FM frequencies short distances so you can tune in to your iPod.
I think I still have one of those FM dongles in a drawer, in case I ever need it.
I’ve used this kind of short-range FM sender in an older car to get Bluetooth capability. Just set it to some available frequency and save the channel as “AUX” or something, then you can switch from the radio to Bluetooth by just switching to that channel. Works like a charm.
Of course, you’ll have to live with the fact that the car next to you can tune in on the signal, but I’m very rarely in still-standing queues so I’ve never thought twice about it. I believe the range of the sender is like 20 m to a normal car radio.
Does your car have an aux port? If so, get a 3mm male-to-male audio cable and plug one end in the iPod and the other in the aux port.
Enable USB media in radio settings?
it is enabled but still doesn’t recognize it
This cable is the same cable you used to transfer music onto the iPod from your computer?
Some cables do not support MTP data transfer and are for charging only
AUX?
