Metal always had a Nazi problem. That’s what happen when you take out the radical root of rock and roll and make it solely about aesthetic and technicity so that white people from Norway can enjoy it

Metallica sued Napster lmao what a bunch of simps

If I die and go to hell and there is no metal genre playing then I know I truly went to hell.

And for those who say ‘what about all the people before metal music was invented who died and went to hell’. To that I have to say that metal music is eternal and the history of music is a lie!

I’m very conflicted about metal and metalheads these days. Sure, there’s the “they’re really cool and chill people stereotype” but then there’s also Phil Anselmo pictured doing a nazi salute and still happily touring with the likes of Black Sabbath to this day. There’s big bad (and popular) Metallica that squeals “don’t tread on me” like confederate losers.

Punk rock at least tries to kick the nazis out. Metal embraces them and puts them on best seller lists. And breeds the kind of macho dickheads that put down other people to feel more like a man.

That’s why, if I’m completely honest, I’m starting to look exclusively towards female vocalists for my metal needs these days. Now more than ever, I’m sick of dick swinging and macho man power trips. Now more ever, when I hear references to rattlesnakes being tread on, it makes me feel like breaking stuff. And of course there’s a hell of a lot less of a chance of them turning out to be nazis or sexual predators.

Nah, it’s pretty much the same. Maybe they’re less vocal about it because they’re already worried about being accepted in a male dominated field. But being as horrible as possible is pretty even across the sexes in other areas, so probably this one as well.

I dunno what to tell you but women can be nazis too.

Besides, every hobby has assholes in it. But because there are a few pieces of shit in metal, doesn’t mean all of metal is racist or sexist. That’s like saying people who like science fiction are nazis and misogynist because Wernher von Braun wrote Project Mars.

And last I checked, metal didn’t embrace nazis. There are fringe nazi sympathizers in metal, but metal as a whole is repulsed by nazisism. They just can’t control what some people do. Just like how punk can’t control of there are a few nazi punk bands out there no matter how much they try to reject them.

It genuinely pisses me off how such a small group of assholes can get so many people to act like metal as a whole is racist. It was no different back in the 2000s where my parents also wanted me to stop listening to it because my dad found one article about a guy who beat up his girlfriend and he apparently liked Metallica.

This is the blaming video games for school shooters argument all over again. And back then, metal was blamed for that too.

My dad once picked me up from a party when I was in high school in the 1980s; he noticed a video that was playing on MTV and was highly disturbed by the imagery in it, as he told me later (many times).

The video was “Cuts Like a Knife” by Bryan Adams. My dad thought he was losing me to Satan because of fucking Bryan Adams!

Art = scaring parents for centuries.

My dad was also convinced that my group of friends would get me into drugs which is fucking hilarious. I tried so many times to explain to him and my mom that my friends were all socially awkward nerds who unironically did Naruto runs when no one was looking. We were cringe as fuck and most of us were former bully victims who lived sheltered lives and and just really liked watching animated movies and shows. Many of us had never really had friends before either, so having interests to bond over was pretty cool.

But because we also dressed in black, some dying their hair in crazy colors and we listened to metal, we had to be criminals. I am in my mid 30s now, still listen to metal and I have yet to do drugs and violent crimes. Any day now, though!

It isn’t for me, tbf, but I’m glad if you enjoy it 🤗

My German teacher traumatized me with Christiane F when I was 15. Not like I wanted to try anything before then, but that movie fucked me up lol. Same teacher had a mental breakdown when they found out one of my schoolmates had been secretly sniffing lighter gas in her room for months. I will never forget the heartbroken face of my teacher. I always think of her whenever drugs come up in any context. I just can’t do that to her.

I don’t know where this is coming from because I grew up in the era of Marilyn Manson, the Murderdolls and Dir En Grey (etc.) Where gender was some fluid shit and everybody vibed with it.

Even though I don’t like them, I also remember Rammstein playing around with gender expression.

Overall, my personal experience with metal since teenhood in the 2000s is that metalheads are extremely chill and open minded and the bigots are some fringe groups here and there that nobody likes to talk to anyways.

Tbf rap doesn’t require talent. Go listen to lil peep and tell me talent is required.

Now, is talent required for good rap? Yeah, and there’s no shortage of it if you know where to look. But goddamn lil uzi vert sucks ass. I know we can’t all be KRS One but do we have to be takeshi 69?

It really is better to be destroyed by Trump and fascism standing for what’s right, that being empathetic and logical, than to cowtow to his demands.

Better to die on your feet than live on your knees. I won’t be the equivalent of a German who provides silent, obedient consent as they dehumanize the gypsies/Jews/disabled.

It’s not rehabbing the Democrat party to yet again make them a little more similar to the Republicans, they’re already fascist light.

We need a major left wing party in the United States. We haven’t had one in living memory. If we don’t get that, highly likely, the ship will continue to sink until collapse. Then we can form a bunch of smaller nations of varying decency to be destroyed within a couple decades by climate change, forcing us back to a far more hostile nature than humanity has known.

It’s almost funny we are doing all of this to ourselves as a species to prevent what my species sees as the worst possible fate: humanism and global cooperation where no one is allowed to hoard enough resources to live as modern pharoahs while others starve and die of exposure.

We’d rather go extinct or to subsisting off hunting and gathering than forfeit our dreams of being the rich sociopaths inflicting ourselves on the masses. Earth has something for a species that toxic.

So your solution to fascism is to… concede to the hatreds of the fascists.

So the Democrats would be different… how then? Dems and Republicans are both bribed to burn society to fuel economic metastasis at all costs, the only thing that separates them at this point are affirmation ribbons you can’t eat, wear, or live in(D), and stoking hatred through scapegoating® on the social policy side.

If the Democrats get on board with the scapegoating, what are we even voting for anymore? The ONLY reason I vote for them is the harm reduction of not preaching hate as they allow mass homelessness, growing wealth inequity, and defend entire market sectors that have become murderous confidence schemes along with their Republican buddies across the aisle.

Your kind of pragmatism is why we have no real opposition party to the Republicans. Your kind of pragmatism has already brought us to hell.

nope. Because hatred isn’t reasonable. These people hated “goddamn faggots” back when we could be beaten, imprisoned, even killed with minimal investigation and pretty much impunity. And now they hate us because we can legally marry and they face repercussions if they try a good ol’ poof bash, but boy did they realise there’s a gray area with trans members of the community.

Hate is hate and it’s not our duty to make ourselves small and invisible in case we make dickheads fly off the fucking handle. That’s being complicit in our own abuse.

[OP] called metal shitty growls and screams,

To give the OP credit, even as a metal fan, they’re not exactly wrong. There are plenty of bands/genres that I try to listen to and come away thinking something to that effect.
