How is it trump doesn’t understand that the USA has so much power because we treat our allies and trade partners well and that they benefit out of doing business with us. All the crap he’s pulling is making it not worth trying to do business with the USA.
Trump says any country that buys oil from Iran will not be allowed to do any business with U.S.
The rest of the world is getting much closer to saying: “Your terms are acceptable. We won’t do business with the USA”
But mostly it was also because of the omnipresence of the dollar on the international stage which gave them huge leverage.
The US never treated anybody well, they were absolutely ruthless and would screw anybody whenever possible. This was known and pretty much expected. But at least they would mostly stick to their word, like most other civilised countries did. Now, nobody knows what to expect, whatever their government says, which creates a fair bit of tension.
Honestly, he could just bomb Iranian oil infrastructure, has explicitly stated within the past month that he will bomb Iran if Iran doesn’t comply, and my guess is that that’d be a Plan B. Like, the Trump administration doesn’t lack for leverage here if it wants to terminate Iran’s ability to deal in oil.
Trump threatens bombing if Iran does not make nuclear deal
WASHINGTON, March 30 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump threatened Iran on Sunday with bombing and secondary tariffs if Tehran did not come to an agreement with Washington over its nuclear program.

I don’t know if I would go as far as saying you treated allies and friends well, but it certainly used to be mutually beneficial on the whole at least

yeah he doen’t get what mutual benefit is. he can’t actually do deals, all he can do is be a loudmouthed clown.

America has a lot of guns but it’s just not smart to fight every battle you can.
he knows–or rather has been told this, i’m sure–repeatedly. but he’s just “following orders”
