Spain and Portugal held emergency Cabinet meetings as evacuations from some public spaces took place. Spain's Interior Ministry has declared a state of emergency for affected regions that need it. Follow DW.

There is currently no power in the Iberian Peninsula. It has been going for about 9 hours now. Yet on Lemmy, I feel like no one talk about this huge international event.

    My emergency kit has a radio with AM / FM / NOAA (emergency weather broadcasts in the USA) and a hand crank to charge its battery for exactly this reason.

        At least I live in an area where the most likely weather disaster is an earthquake that destroys the entire area, and I’m not sure how useful weather alerts would be in that case.
