Didn’t they US used to send special forces out to rescue people like that in the past?

Dude is a citizen of El Salvador, though. That makes it more complicated. Going in and extracting him could easily be treated as an act of war.

Trump’s only real tool would be to negotiate his return, either by offering them something, or threatening them.

Unless going to war is the plan, which I find unlikely.

The US kidnapped people in broad daylight in the middle of Europe and negotiates the release of prisoners with dictatorships on a regular basis. So there’s a wide range of options with precedents.

doesn’t matter.he needs to capitulate to them to get the guy back.

it was his departments fuck up after all, as so ordered by the highest court in the land. it’s his job to do whatever it takes to get the man back. we certainly have leverage; I think it’s just trump doesn’t want to and is using this to conviently ignore a court order. That’s why he said ‘hes helping us out’. shipping them to another country helps him do fascist things and shove off the blame. It’s like if the Nazis held their camps in Ethiopia or some shit idk

anyone who isnt outraged over this is imo… in for a nasty surprise. this will keep ramping up, innocent people will keep getting sent to El Salvador and when not even the supreme Court can stop it

what’s the point of any of this? what are we doing here? seriously I cannot believe how ignorant, short sided, and hateful my fellow Americans are becoming. this is the end of the American experiment, it’s that simple. We’ve failed every test.

every founding founder would be rolling over in their graves, but if they could e tasted a fraction of the immense wealth and power our current oligarchs hold. I’m sure they’d do the same thing

Thing is if they really followed the constitution and the federalist papers, there should have been an overthrow of the government and a rewrite of the constitution every 15 years or so.

They knew stagnant government and a population who got to complacent would be a bad bad thing.

        And here we are.

Frankly, if there is any country right now that needs an invasion, El Salvadore seems to be at the top of the list. You running a gulag where you dump people with indefinite sentences and no due process? Yeah, I think it’s time to coup your ass.
