What’s the longest chemical formula that spells out a word, but is also an actual chemical formula?
I’m able to come up with “HI”, or hydrogen iodide (which is a real compound). “He” also works, which is just helium.
I’ve tried to use AI to find one, but it was only able to produce CuTe, copper (II) telluride, BiTe, bismuth telluride, and LaTe, lanthanum telluride.
What’s the longest chemical formula that is both valid and spells out a word or phrase?
Sodium citrate is the ingredient responsible for helping regular cheese to melt into a smooth, creamy sauce- it has the chemical formula Na₃C₆H₅O₇.
my failed attempt: SCOTiSH
- Sulfur S
- Carbon C
- Oxygen O
- Titanium Ti (idk if forms a valid compund, a rare heavy metals chemists needs to come in for this one lmao)
- Sulfur S
- Hydrogen H
Scottish person I guess … I failed at the double t. But it sounds right … right?
My favorite that doesn’t work is Gallium Yttride: GaY
Ooh, another molecule that suddenly ceased to exist according to the US government
my initial guess would be that it is not stable (very likely we are going to have phase seperation, considering the size difference of atoms, but not sre)
There’s H₃GaY
still pretty interesting though
I’m looking for ones where the chemical formulae is a valid one for a real compound. Don’t think “princess” is a real chemical compound
No SSL? Hrmph.

Also, didn’t Breaking Bad (the TV show) play with this?
Ooft SSL certs are free
Have not heard of the Ooft provider. But you should tell the admins of that site, not me!
they were likely trying to to say Oof, though not sure
You want me to search that for you? NaBro!
sodium bromate?
yes, but it is likely going to be NaBrO3, Br is very large, and for Br, +1 is not very stable compared to +5 (most likely with +1, we will have disproportionation reaction)
that’s true
