Trudeau decided to go ahead with retaliatory tariffs even though Trump’s order includes a mechanism to escalate the rates if Canada retaliates against the U.S.
That’s not whataboutism at all. He’s pointing out what you people love to ignore, the U.S. empire, the perfect fusion of U.S. businesses and global military projection, that chugs along unhindered regardless of who is in power. I don’t think you understood his comment.
Frankly, Putin is scum but the idea that he controls the Republican party is fucking ridiculous. Their brand of fascism has been continual for the better part of a century. The Red Scare, Nixon, the Reagan years, GHWB, GWB, all of it. Russia’s GDP is a fifteenth of the U.S.'s GDP. Trump’s net worth is like 1/2000 of Russia’s GDP as a whole. It’s a complete boogeyman for Democrats. The reality is far uglier - that both Democrats and Republicans, and their equivalents throughout much of the European sphere and any client state of the U.S., are all controlled. Putin couldn’t afford a ruler in the U.S. the same way domestic businesses can. If he were really trying to go against these institutions, he would have been killed already.
Trace back all the Russia claims. Where did they come from? Was it an impartial third party analysis? A UN watchdog? Or was it an arm of the U.S. government?
